A pure scam would have been, had they estimated an unreasonably high fixit amount, and knew that going in you wouldn't accept and they had no intentions of fixing it, just intending to keep the trip fee. You could in that case refuse to pay the trip fee. You accepted the price for the service they offered, not much scam in that. Just overcharged you. Sorry to hear it. I understand most service men/repairmen/contractors are generally pretty much scum, bordering on scammers. If they did the work to your satisfaction, and you paid the amount preagreed upon, it is technically not a scam.
