Well, he is right about the bloodline and it is a big deal when you consider the line of succession for the throne. If I understand correctly, one of Robert baratheon's bastards are now the true heir. Probably Gendry.
Yeah I was more talking about people saying that he killed the heir to House Barratheon but unless he produced a son, then technically the house is dead anyway.
Well he also killed his brother.....who was also unlikely to produce a male heir for different reasons.
One prevailing theory is: Spoiler Jon Snow is Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark's kid (he kidnapped her, leading to Robert's Rebellion, etc.). Have also heard: Spoiler Jon Snow is Robert Baratheon and Lyanna Stark's kid (they were supposed to be married).
I don't think so. Gendry was never legitimized and therefore cannot inherit. His line is completely dead without even cousins it appears. House Baratheon is extinct unless a king were to legitimize Gendry (or he conquered and legitimized himself obviously). Inheritance at this point would probably fall to The Great Council which would come together to anoint a new king.
Also that depends on the legitimacy of the Baratheon reign to begin with. Many saw Robert Baratheon as an usurper. The MOST legitimate heir to the throne would be Daenerys
I mean, yeah.... but technically a Baratheon sits on the Iron Throne right now, lulz. A kid Robert loved and raised, named Boaratheon.
I think dynasties are regarded a bit differently in this world. Though the name wasn't like to live on through his line, Tywin saw his dynasty living on through his crowned grandchildren, even though they were Baratheons in his head. There would still be Lannisters through Kevan and lesser Lannisters, but I think the dynasty he cared about most were those who would sit on the throne. The actual name of Stark and Baratheon might not live on through Sansa and Shireen had she been alive, but they still would inherit Winterfell/Dragonstone, and the smallfolk would recognize their line as having Stark/Baratheon blood.
Yeah, here is the video describing the "Bastards of Westeros" Spoiler <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/9En4f_SHdx4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
This is all assuming that at some point there is NOT a Baratheon on the throne and the question of who is the "rightful" heir. Stannis was clearly the rightful heir when Robert died.
Stannis had bigger goals, like thinking he was the chosen one to defeat the white walkers. , so I doubt he worried about his bloodline.
As Tyrion said to his father, "armies gives one power", after he learned the Starks were betrayed at the Red Wedding.
