I've found reading the books and watching the show mutually enhance each other. This was true early on when the show closely followed the books and has remained true as they diverge. The show outpacing the books won't keep me from reading the last two books at all.
I actually think this could be a could thread of its own. Without going into detail, the major deviations have been combining characters. I think they mishandled Arya's character in the 2nd season even though her relationships with Tywin Lannister and Jaquin H'gar were outstanding. I won't go into anymore detail than that in this thread but would give a detailed explanation in another thread where spoilers were ok.
Anyone see the winter is coming website's leaked photos for the season finale? MAJOR spoilers, so Google it on ur own discretion
just saw last sundays episode. princess shireen didnt deserve that, the red lady better give birth to some badass monster that kills all the boltons and lannisters and davos better revenge her death b.c she was like his daughter. and the unsullied are disappointing. there supposed to be like the most feared soldiers in the world, but they get their asses whooped by a bunch of rich kids in masks and daggers. those dragons are either still babies to have their skin so soft it can be pierced by sticks and spears.. they need good armor or something. i like the way house dorne runs their ship so that arab spanish prince might be the next best ruler for westeros because he's cautious and wise.
Cool site, but it's not what it used to be. I usually go to Watchers On The Wall, for my GoT fix. Most of the people that used to run WiC migrated over there after Fansided bought out Winter Is Coming. Yes, I have saw the pics..... and then there's the "video" that's out there!
Wow...seriously?... Wow. I was wondering why that guy was being nice and concerned about his uncle...
Ending the season like that? I feel like the show just cut off the most interesting (based on fan theories) part of the story.
How convenient for Melisandre to show up at Castle Black. That said Melisandre will be to Jon Snow as Thoros of Myr was to Beric Dondarrion (in season 3) when it comes to magically springing back from a case of death.
They just set the record for # of cliffhangers. And that's a record that will never be broken. They may as well just cut to black right when the first knife was pulled at the end.
