[FUTBOL] Zidane vs Beckham in the MLS?

Didn't Bekham go back to Real Madrid?? or was that just until July comes?

 

It would rock to see more international stars here, even in their twilight. MLS may be inferior to international futbol, but the lure of the bright lights of the USA is still a huge factor to folks overseas. If the MLS keeps it up, they may field teams that could compete on the world scene in 5-10 years.

Beckham can't play until his contract is up with Real Madrid, which is this summer.

He retired from international play, not club soccer.

actually he retired from both club and international play. the world cup final was supposed to be his last professional game.

 

Well, he's better then Beckham at this point so it would be awesome. One of the best ever.

 

Now we're just waiting on Ronaldo and other old farts to come to the Dynamo's

 

Zizou needs to play here in Houston; that alone will ensure a new multi-purpose soccer stadium in Houston and a sellout of Dynamo season tickets for the foreseeable future.

Beckham scored in the first half of the Real Madrid game today in his first game back in the squad.

 

Except that Zidane is anything but an "old fart". This is the same guy who dominated in this very last World Cup and is still on his game.

It would be more like Michael Jordan when he secured his second three-peat: not as fast, not as flashy, but just as effective and still a great once-in-a-generation type of talent.

 

I hope Zidane gets a chance to come back and redeem himself after that World Cup debacle. For a player like that it would be pretty sad that his last game would end like that.

 

So Zidane, how do you plan on making up that World Cup loss?

The New York sports teams always want to be in the spotlight. Since LA has signed Beckham, I am not surprised that they will try to get someone like Zidane to 'counter' it.

 

Today in UNIVISION's Republica Deportiva, the guest was Claudio Reyna of the Red Bulls. A question from Roxana from the show to him directly was: "Whom would you like to see coming to the MLS now that Beckham is here?" His answer: "Zidane."

Foreshadowing?

 

Both Reyna and Zidane are the field general (key man) type of players. The Red Bulls may trade Reyne if they can acquire Zidane. I don't think they can afford to keep both of them.

 

They're not trading Reyna. He'd probably just retire if that were to happen. He's here to play a few miles from home. Besides, I'm sure they'd find a way to fit them both in the lineup. Reyna can play a more defensive role.
