Kickoff tonight at 6:00 on ESPN2. This is the first of three friendlies the US will play in the next six days in preperation for the World Cup. Here's a good article on what to look for in these matches. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns...rldcup&cc=5901
It'll be interesting to see the lineups used in the upcoming games. With Donavan, Reyna, Beasley, and JOB all pretty much set in the midfield you have to wonder if he'll stick with just those four or bring in Dempsey, Convey, or Mastroeni. Before I was thinking Donavan could be played as a forward to make room for one of them, but this article makes that seem less likely.
2-2 tie. And I am being generous to the Africans. Has anyone seen these MOROCCANS play? They're FRIGGIN' fast. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=367688&cc=3888
Yea, thats cause they want to get out of their sorry country so quickly. Mail Letters to: Conan O' Brien Hates My Homeland 30 Rockefeller Plaza New York City, NY 10112 USA
someone needs to make an official world cuop thread...should be a sticky thread. My teams are Ghana and Ivery Coast...as well as Holland/Brazil
Yes, that would be great if it were a sticky thread. The thing is a month long for christ's sake. United States is my team but Brasil will win it all.
And they did so well in qualifing for the WC. Does your America bashing know no limits? Seriously, USA wins this match big. If Keller is in the net, there is no way Morrocco scores a goal.
If that is true I will be quite frustrated. We need to be playing top level talent right now as preparation for the Cup and playing the Morocco B team aint exactly that . . .
And Latvia and Venezuela are? These matches are about getting players match fit, it is near impossible to play quality sides before the World Cup if you plan on staying in America.
They were undefeated in African qualfying and a 68th minute own goal kept them from playing in Germany.
How? The only thing Morrocco and Ghana have in common is that they're from the same continent. They have very different styles of play.
The idea isn't to play top level talent (hence the next 2 matches against Venzuela and Latvia). The idea is to get a better feeling for what the competition is doing. Playing Morrocco gives you a better insight to what Ghana can do...i.e. playing against great team speed and individual talent. I'm not sure what the other 2 games bring other than Latvia might give an insight into the Czech Republic's style of play.
I know you're joking, but believe me you're so wrong about Morocco, it's a beautiful country, one of the best places you can visit. Anyways, regarding their soccer team, they've always had one of the premier teams in Africa, and play Euro-style futbol (may be because half of their players play in Europe?). Do they still have Hadji? That guy was one of the best players I have ever watched, he was so much fun.
To be honest, it's laughable that anyone would compare African competition to North American competition...they're in two different stratospheres.
No, not bashing my American team, it's just that you will see hungry Moroccan young kids wanting to win BADLY and Americans wanting to bond the team. I too hope Keller makes some great stops.
Here's the starting line-up: 4-2-1-3 Keller Cherundolo Pope Onyewu Gibbs Reyna O'Brien Donovan Wolff McBride Beasley
