We played better without a team while Yao was out.
We played at a more elite level when Yao was out.

Same thing is going on now...

    Agreed.

He should only come back if he's 100% healthy enough mentally.

He should only come back if he's healthy enough to improve the team physically, doesn't have to be 100% but it needs to be a good percentage.

Right now I don't think that is possible.

    You know it's true!

Personally, I just think this team would be much better with 1 superstar, and a bunch of very good roleplayers..

We didn't play better without Yao last year. We were on a winning streak when he went down. All we did was keep the streak going as he went down. We could of still won those games if he played.

You can't compare Yao out last year to T-mac out this year why?

Last year as I stated earlier we started playing well while Yao was playing and T-mac was out. When T-mac came back and Yao was playing things really started clicking. Yao's performance was not declining enough to notice an injury effected him.

This year, T-mac is trying to play hurt and it is clearly hurting him and the team.

Yao was still putting up All-star numbers last year.

T-mac this year numbers has slipped a whole lot.

The big point is that Yao did not hurt the team last year. TSlack is hurting the team right now when he plays.

I know of no such thing as being true, I know that the OP of this thread put together some fantastic statistical data which back up his conclusions, I have seen a lot of blathering about something similar happening to Yao last year, but have seen no data to back up those statements.

That's not true. Rockets played their best before Yao went down, blew out Hornets on their home court behind Yao's 28/14.

Come on, Rox were even 7-2 without Tmac during one stretch, that doesn't mean Rox were better withouth him last year.

Last year Rox played poorly in first 30 game or so, that's partially due to the team play a new system which doesn't fit Yao's game. It got better when RA realized Yao should be in low post instead of high post.

This year is a total different story. Tmac needs to get healthy.

    I edited your post :)

    Yup, I agree..
That's one hundred percent correct. I still think that the team played better without Yao last year than they did with him..

    I digress though.
    Continue on with the convo

Only 2 teams out of the 14 games whenTmac played can be consider contenders(Cleveland, New Orleans). The rest of the teams are just bad or subpar. If Tmac didn't play all those games, we are properly second or third place in our division.

Tmac fans, I know you guys love him ,but please wake up and realize your boy is hurting this team big time when he's playing!

Ok so you have no data that the team was better without Yao last year. Just wanted to get that out there.

I understand opinions, that is what this board is for, but I was actually interested in seeing some breakdown like this OP did......to prove your point, it would have made a very interesting conversation.

I can come up with some data, but not for a while..
I've got too much on my plate for now, and to organize something like that takes a bit of time.
    <br>
I'll see what I can dig up though...

For now, all I'm saying is that from what I observed, the team was much better without Yao last year......until the playoffs that is

Nice stats. Although stats don't tell the whole story in a lot of cases, it does in this instance.

Anyone watching the games can see, we are currently a better team without McGrady in the lineup.
