I have read almost all threads about the upcoming draft and quite honestly i've enjoyed every post on every thread (talk about obsession). I am mad at myself for checking this site close to 100 times daily and reading the exact same speculations from hundreds of fans day in and day out. Even though this is my first thread and all, and most likely will get trashed...thought i'd give it a shot and profess a new idea being GUT THE ENTIRE TEAM and do what you can to obtain Picks 1-5 in this years' draft and see how a team full of rookies will fare against nba competition. Simple question: Who would you pick with the first five picks??? (Probably stating the obvious but these are my picks): PG- Wall SG- Turner SF- Johnson PF- Favors C- Cousins Anyone in on this...?
Dead Serious... Fill it all up with whoever you can find that's cheap: NBDL, free agency, you name it!
Sure am, although Yao for Wall straight up......new take.....what about Gut the team for rookies with non nba experience whether it's bledsoe, wall, or any other point guard and any other mix of players declaring for the draft this year. Thing is the starting five have to be rookies from this year's draft class
if the rockets traded their whole roster they wouldn't have enough to get john wall from the wizards. so this fantasy will have to be picks 2-6 if you want it to be somewhat believable.
I understand your skeptiesm both Yoa and Brand will be on the books for many years to come to make all of this work; add Martin to the list aswell. I do think Yoa and Brand would be great mentors to all the younger players and at the very least play spot mins. till their contracts are up. With this line up one could mix and match both wing and post players at will. The only thing we may need is a three point shooting pointgaurd (for spacing) and a Chuck Hayes/Mike Harris type to round out the team. This team would compete for championships for many years to come. Quote: Originally Posted by fattz Lowry/Llull Martin/Turner Ariza/Johnson Brand/Randolph Yao/Hill
The Celtics added 2 perennial All-Stars with Paul Pierce (among other pieces) and won a championship in 1 year. That's THREE All-Stars plus an up and comer in Rajon Rondo. The Lakers added 1 All-Star and it took them 2 years to win a championship. The OKC Thunder are just now playoff contenders (playoff contenders, NOT championship contenders) with the 3-4 young studs they have. So how long before this "fresh start" is going to pay dividends? 5-6 years after they play together?
Yao, Brooks, Hill, #14 pick, 2011 pick, 2012 NY pick, cash for Arenas and Wall You could maybe even add whatever second round picks we got. The #14 pick would have to be picked by the rockets and subsequently traded. I think this deal could get it done for Wall. Morey would be really dumb to offer this.
Martin + Ariza/Battier+Budinger for Turner and Brand. Add this to the Wall deal and this leaves us with nothing else to get anyone of use.
gut the team? for unproven commdities? "com'on mane" Wall and Turner are sure to produce but after that theres risk in every other pick
I just wanted a change of pace and have a bunch of unproven college stars come in and give us something to cheer about where each basket/defensive stop becomes a commodity. Also a team that buys into what the coach and peers want them to do kind of like the oklahoma thunder who in my opinion are the funnest team to watch now.
