If Harden is okay with Matt Barnes, and he will take the minimum.... I am all for it. Barnes is still a good defender, can cover multiple positions and would thrive being on the floor with Harden. He is a solid shooter from 3 and is a very good shooter inside of 3.
Yeah.... that is great and all except....... he actually is a solid role player, capable of playing multiple positions and was an effective offensive player last year as well; shooting solid from most places on the floor... and defensively he was well above average.
Is Harden that petty? Harden's mother heckled Barnes, Barnes-- not knowing who she was, other than just a hecking fan-- responded rudely. Barnes later apologized. If Harden or the Rockets are going to exclude every player who ever responded rudely to a heckler, their pool of player would shrink dramatically. As for "plenty of SFs": We got Ariza, Brewer and Papanikalaou. Brewer is a free agent. Pap's contract is non-guaranteed and the Rockets are looking to use this contract to facilitate a trade. Besides, Pap was out of the rotation by the end of the year. Ariza also may get traded-- and his salary would have to be on the move in almost any conceivable deal involving big money. Matt Barnes is a pretty good player by a number of measures. He has a very positive "Real Plus Minus" and played 30 mpg for a very good Clippers team. The Real Plus Minus number might be an overestimation of his impact (or it might not be) but he is at least useful player who can contribute to a good team. My answer to Matt Barnes is the same as my answer to Luis Scola: If the acquisition does not cost the resources needed by the Rockets to make bigger moves, why not?
Barnes is exactly what we need on the team He's a guy who you hate playing against because he makes every opponents blood boil
I'm surprised that nobody mentioned that, if this were to happen, how much "thuggier" we would be if Barnes was added to our roster. Considering there was this thread created just after Smoove became a Rocket during the season.
I'm just gonna leave this here (pay close attention to the main guy that was assigned to defend him. Hint: jersey #1): https://youtu.be/C7ljXhL7UFI
What general attitude? He instigates stuff (on purpose) on the court but I've never heard of lockerroom or chemistry problems
Plays D and doesn't over commit like the Greyhound and shoots the 3 better than him. I'm O.K. with that. Not sh**ing on Brewer, he has way more energy and runs the break better than anybody in the league.
Definitely not! Who cares if he apologized to Harden? This is just a move that management should avoid, not enough value at age 35 to compensate what he did
Another troll job by CH. The ultimate troll job team: John Stockton Derek Fisher Josh Howard Kermit Washington Karl Malone off the bench: Matt Barnes I mean come on guys. If a guy is free ya gotta look at the talent and our needs, guys.
