I very rarely make threads and mods please remove if redundant, but I'm just so happy that Garcia resigned with us that I can't help it... We all know he was overpaid last year but we declined his $6 million + option and he still signed with us for the vet min so we can preserve the room exception to sign another player... With Howard, this team is going to need 3 point shooting more than anything. Just Miami with Miller/Battier/Allen... Garcia brings that, veteran leadership, and defense. He did a great job on Durant last year. Let's hope Delfino is next!!!
Huge for us. He made it harder on Durant than any player that I can remember. His vet leadership and confidence in the clutch is crucial to a team structured like ours now. We do not have ANYTHING to worry about. We will have a top 2 starting lineup and now we will have a more than competent bench (moves obviously still to be made).
No. Not sure why. Maybe he's just on vacation and has to make time for a physical or something. Probably nothing serious.
I liked the attitude and toughness Garcia brought to the team, especially in the playoffs. For him to take the vet min is a pretty big deal. Not sure if he had other offers, but he seemed to really want to be in Houston. So, this thread is appropriate and I'm glad he's here.
Houston Rockets swingman Francisco Garcia, scored nine points to go with five rebounds and four blocks to offset a 3-for-11 shooting performance in a game between Argentina against Dominican Republic! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY7y24ESSyw
No Garcia highlights. But it was nice to see James Harden disguised as a Dominican as he finds a way to practice shooting with his right hand. Also, Scola looks like he's in great shape, probably the best he's been since he entered the NBA. Pacers got a good one.
Under the amnesty rules, the Rockets are prohibited from acquiring Scola until July 2015, even if he is waived and becomes a free agent before then. Sadly, he'll likely never play another game for the Rockets.
