Lets say Troy Baros is right and Francis wants to leave if we drafted Ming. Would you trade Steve and some filler (MoT, Rice, and Collier) for Garnett. I'm not saying that Steve wants to leave but if he did, would you do it. If not, who would you trade him for.

Yes, I would do that in a second.

I would then pick Jay Williams with the #1 pick.
Garnet, Williams, Griffin...the nucleus of a championship.

That's not possible because of Garnett's contract but if it wasn't a problem then I would do it,and take Williams with the 1st pick.

    Yes yes yes yes yes!

    Ming
    Griffin
    Garnett
    Mobley
    Free agent/draft pick Mooch

Francis plus big contracts to Min for KG? Are you kidding!?!! Please please please.

Now, how do I get 20 mil in contracts? Rice, Taylor, Cato - oh better and better.

    Did I say yes?

I also would pick Jwill with the #1 pick, but this argument was based on Troy's assertion that Francis was outta here if we drafted Ming.

    in a word: yes.

i love stevie but that trade is too tasty to pass up. we could have a pg with a possibly greater upside in jay williams and a person with equal talent...and about 9 inches taller. yes yes yes in a heartbeat.

Any team involved in a trade for Steve Francis would have to be completely sure of his re-signing with them. I doubt Francis would agree to re-sign with Minnesota.

I would do most anything to get KG without trading Steve.

But,...if forced to include Steve, I would trade Steve for KG.

Luckily, if anything were to go down between the two teams, we have already been told that Steve wouldn't be included.

The TWolves want cap relief or picks. Trading for Francis accomplishes neither.

Plus, the TWolves win 50+ games with KG and always make the playoffs. The best the Rockets have done with Francis and MoT is 45 and have yet to make the playoffs.

IMO, the TWolves pass on this one.

I was replying to rockbox's question. I don't think that the Timberwolves would trade Garnett for Francis.

I agree with Gater. Garnett brings intangibles like defense, intensity, and hustle, while most of the junk we send out brings none of the above (maybe intensity when they feel like it) and would be come Flip's headaches.

I read Rockbox's trade scenario and the team the Rox ends up is the same lineup we would have this season when all three (Rice, Taylor, Franchise) were injured. Only Garnett and the No. 1 would have the major impact. Is that enough? Our depth would be as good as this season, but it would be like the Stephon and Tha Kid days when the Wolves won 50 games with only those two guys (in a weaker Western Conference).

If Garnett takes that "paycut" on his next extension, his value rises immediately. But I don't see where Garnett would win out from this because he's proud to be a TWolf and feels responsible for taking the team to respectability. He might feel all those years of sacrifice would be a waste.

I think sometimes you people highly underrate Steve's importance to the Rockets. Need I remind you the Rockets record without him? I think Steve is for anything that will improve the Rockets, so I dont really believe that talk that he wants to leave if they draft Ming. Assuming they cant trade the pick, what else does he want them to do with it? We all know he doesnt want them to draft Jay Williams.
