I wonder if other countries will do this too or whether they need a terrible precedent to be able to do so.

If these 3 mosques are preaching hate speech and pro-ISIS rhetoric, then they definitely should shut them down.

My concern is what is going to stop the imams and attendees of these mosques to not meet up in a basement somewhere?

My guess is that shutting down these mosque will prevent radicalization of youths and the gullible

Kill their funding, privilege of being a religion, and any credibility.

Big mosques are community centers with schools and other functions that serve as a way of life. It's more than a church. That radicals are not festering in some guise of legitimacy is one step imo.

Not saying this will solve anything, but there isn't a textbook against this kind of thing either.

nothing at all, which actually makes it more dangerous.

this is exactly the response that the terr'ists want. just like trump calling for shutting down mosques here and creating databases for muslims. you are doing exactly what they want you to do, dumbasses.

So if a mosque is known to preach pro-ISIS propaganda on Western soil, we should just let them? Seems like a lose-lose scenario.

Let's not kid ourselves. French intelligence chose these specific mosques for a reason.

I'd prefer to infiltrate it with intelligence officers, gather information, and then pick people off one by one. You also let the leadership of those mosques know that they'll be held responsible for promoting violence and jihad. When you close mosques down those people just go somewhere else.

Arrests were made. What could you convict more of them of exactly? They are already known to be spreading violence. You can't afford to wait till one of their followers attacks.

I think killing the entire thing is very effective. Will give other religious leaders very good reason to police their own organizations.

Inciting terrorism certainly should be a charge if it isn't and make it like the RICO laws. There's no need to p***y foot around the issue. Give law enforcement strong tools to prosecute members of mosques that promote this garbage. Open up civil damages to really any organization or mosque or church that promotes violence.

Moderate Muslims also have their role to play. It's time they reported garbage like this in their communities if they're not already.

This is a good step, but we live in a digital age. Shutting down a few mosques means little when folks can be recruited via propaganda websites, twitter, youtube, etc.

In fact, I'd argue that this is where ISIS' (and other extremists) real "strength" resides.

Yes, unfortunately, technology can transport good messages as well as bad ones. It's a shame.

Progress! Excellent news. I wonder if they used my patented go pro disguise method...

Curious to see the pressure the feds will act with once my video goes viral. We all know the talk that goes on between muslims behind closed doors, but how will the mainstream handle that once it becomes public? Very similar to the NFL wife beating scandals not being taken seriously until surveillance was released.

Last week in Greece the members of a Pakistani mosque alerted the police on their own that a imam was preaching violence against christians and radicalisation and the police arrested him and deported him to Pakistan. He had pamphlets etc. Then he tried to come back and was arrested and put in prison.
Moderate muslims of the local community alerted the authorities on their own and reacted.

This is what should happen often, unfortunately moderate muslims likes to distance more than report.

Do you have any evidence to back up this statement or did you just make it up?

A moderate muslim is a complete rarity. Muslims are all in this. They may not all act in this way and carry out all these terrorist attacks but many clearly know what's going on with their extreme radical friends and yet chose not to report it. Don't tell me not a single muslim friend of the Boston bombers or this Farooq guy and his wife did not know what was going on.

What malakas posted is an exception and good on those but you're putting yourself in trouble if you expect other muslims to act this way. They will be crucified by their radical counterparts if they even attempt to report such deplorable actions.
