I think the exact oppossite about D-Wade. That Miami team was ready to lock the doors and close shop as the 2nd best team last year when D-Wade did one of...if not the best...solo basketball performance I have ever seen in an NBA finals. D-Wade put that whole Miami team on his back and carried them against Dallas. Wade was unstoppable and with out him Dallas would have swept Miami and the games would not have even been close. I have tried to think of a time when one player so completely carried a team in a championship series and I can't think of one. Even Dream had a lot more help beating the Knicks and the Magic than Wade had beating the Mavs.
How is this not valid? Don't agree with the rankings if you want, but there's nothing wrong with calling it the best player in the world. #3 is a German, and #4 is a Canadian, it isn't a US-only list. If you can name me one player who doesn't currently play in the NBA that deserves to be on that list, I'll agree with you. But you can not do that. The best 10 players in the NBA are the best 10 players in the world. It's a statement of opinion, but one that any honest basketball expert would have.
I'd still take LeBron over D-Wade. Because look what LeBron did last year and there was no real 2nd threat on that team. If he had Shaq, Antoine Walker, or even Haslem, he would be even better than he already is. Just my opinion, but I think Wade is just the flavor of the month when people start saying he is the best player.
