Maybe I'm the only Sam Cassell fan here except for fellow member "SamCassell".

I'm still bothered on why this guy doesn't get the same respect from fans as other point guards?

He has been consistently good through his career, didnt rape anyone or shoot any limo drivers, and no one thinks is an ELITE POINT GUARD.

Cassell, a reserve on the Western Conference squad, is averaging a career-high 21 points and 7.8 assists in his first season with Minnesota. Thats crazy stats!

Is this becuase he's not a flashy dunker? he doesnt have a hot wife and a kid who's head is bigger than South Park?

Is it because he's not as good looking as Robert Horry?[IMG]

Is it becuase he doesnt hang out with Jay Z?

Let me hear your feedback on why Sam is dissed nationally and here at Clutchfans.com[IMG]

The point is why do people still not respect this guy?

If this was Steve Francis this year and he played like Sam did, we'd hear about MVP talks..

No one mentions him as an elite point guard though his stats and team record prove it

Why is he 'underated'? could it be his lack of flash?
Same reason people think Vince Carter is good, cause he can win a dunk contest?

Once again a shoot first pass second point guard-dribble..dribble...dribble...get the crap beat out of you if don't throw it to Dream. Just not that great of a point guard. Just fortunate to have a Dream his first few years. I mean what has he done since?

It was not above retiring Cats jersey. It was about giving it away to a dude who was thrown in the TMAC trade.

Wait til someone gives away Steve's #3 to some scrub.. The Steve fans wouldn't like it

    You are justifying my thread!
I think helping a team to the Western Conference Finals and past the 1st round is a great accomplishment.

Plus with the Bucks, they were competitive and made it the Easter Conference bracket before Big Crap Dog missed some easy jumpers.

Are you Sam Cassell? j/k. You're right, he doesn't get the respect that he deserves. It doesn't help that Charles Barkley disses him all the time on national tv.

    His best season was 21/7.

Steve Francis had 21/6 in his third season. It took Sam 11 years to get 21/7.

Francis will probably be 23/7 this upcoming season.

Sam has been consistently damn good, but not great. Last season, he did a superb job taking advantage of Kevin Garnett.

Tinman, you are a dork. There is no dire need to have a discussion about the Sam. You already discuss this on another thread.

Sam is a good player, and he had an incredible year. I will give it to the alien. He would have helped us more (hindsight) for a longer period of time. However, he is not the BEST pg in the NBA for one year. He is a very good and smart pg, but not the best.

    La Di Da Di,

How is he not the best PG this year if his:

team has the 2nd best record in the NBA
he makes the All star team
his Shoot percent is better than the next 3 all star PGs
he has a high assist average
he hits game winning shots in the playoffs/regular season
    outperforms his opponents head-to-head??

I like how you point out in your thread title that Sam Cassell is a former Rocket as if we might get confused....

Do you think Cassell was THE BEST PG IN THE NBA last year?

Not many people do and it bothers me.

I think the average NBA fan would never anoint 'BEST" to an NBA player unless that player shows flash and athleticism..

Cassell is not flashy and he is just very fundamentally sound in his offense. Whats wrong with a guy who passes and hits 15 footers as best PG?
