it made me sick watching lowrie go. we could use what he is bringing to oakland. Hope he gets back spasms since he is no longer a stro.
Lowrie's been awful in Oakland this year, save for a 4-hit game the other night. Prior to that, his OPS was .521. He'd be more of the same, frankly.
he had some clutch hits against the royals, yankees and seattle that weren't the 4 hit game. the same would be good because he had a knack for breaking you out of a RISPie drought.
Delino DeShields Jr.--last year's poster child for the "Luhnow lets everyone go and they're all awesome" camp--is at .242/.333/.333 with 2 SB and 3 CS. I think he'll at least be better than this, but last year may well have been the aberration
Chris Carter showed up in April this year, has a 1.050 OPS with 15 RBIs, BA of .295. As he usually doesn't bother showing up until June or July, maybe this will be a stellar year. He does have 20 K's already, in true form. But Tyler White already has 22, so we'll see if he eventually becomes a step up from Khris.
Carter has cut down on the frequency he K's so far. I think we all knew Carter could have a good year for somebody, but we also understood it wasn't a risk we could take with White & Reed knocking on the door.
He's not a long term MLB starter. No true position (bad CF with a minus arm) and bat not good enough to warrant keeping him in the lineup.
Agree with both of you. Pointing both at criticism of our players when we give others the sample excuse, and at DDJ's possibility of staying as a 5th OF for his career (for those who were really unhappy about it when he did well last year).
The Nats are a very good team because they've given up the fewest runs in baseball, not because they have a great offense.
