If they get rid of the Ford Fusion, what car will rent-a-cops drive around now??

I hope so. I miss my Ranger, and it is exactly the kind of truck I want again. Most trucks on the market are too big for my taste. I just want something I can transport my lawnmower, ATVs, Kayaks, or Canoe.

Not a fan at all of the Ranger personally (Debuts 2019), but dig the 2020 Bronco although it's rumored to be just a bit bigger than an Explorer. Would rather have OJ Bronco size.

I've read that the Bronco would end up being a 4 door, from the same platform as the new Ranger.

I like the Ranger, and will take a look at it when it comes out, but leaning more toward full size now that my family is growing and needs are changing (currently put two kids with car seats - one rear facing - in the back of a 2008 Honda Fit).

That Bronco is aight, but I feel like they missed the window on retro-ing it. I bet it'll have far more hype than it does sales.

That new Ranger looks like a clone of the Chevy Colorado. Also, my girlfriend has a Fusion and it's a great car, I see a lot of them on the road too so that's the most surprising casualty to me.

Ford is best known for their F-Series trucks and I suppose their Mustangs are pretty popular still. I've heard good things about their SUV/Crossover line up like Edge and Explorer. Other than that, I feel like I can get better vehicles elsewhere.

If you look at Ford's lineup there is a lot of fat to be trimmed.

The Fiesta is basically redundant with the Focus, which is redundant with the C-Max. Consolidating those cars into the "Focus Crossover" is a smart move and the new Focus does look cool FWIW.

The Fusion and the Taurus also suffer from the same overlap. The Taurus suffers from the fact that it used to be the quintessential "average American sedan" but Ford tried to somehow push it into "premium" territory (the new versions actually are pretty nice) since the Fusion's debut. That failed miserably because the Taurus' reputation and marketing was already solidified from the two decades prior. If anything, Ford mucked up and should have made the Fusion its "premium" sedan, if at all.

The good news is that they haven't decided what to do with Lincoln's lineup yet, so the MKZ/Continental may yet survive.

I have a Colorado and like it. The Ranger concepts I've seen look to be about the same size.

As a previous Fiesta ST and a current Focus RS owner, this makes me sad. Going to hang on to this RS as it might be the first and last RS we get.

The Fiesta was basically the econo car for ford. Ford Escort-ish. Will the Focus Crossover be affordable enough to get entry level buyers in? Sometimes that is what those entry level cars are for. Give them something good, and get them hooked on the brand. What will Ford be doing in that regard for young buyers?

This isn't really shocking since most new purchases are going toward pickups, SUV's, and crossovers. Other carmakers may also do the same... next up may be GM.

Imagine Toyota or Honda saying that they are going to stop making Corolla/Civic/Camry/Accord.

    Consumers would riot worldwide.

Im pretty sure why Ford quit making sedans and economy cars is because Honda and Toyota pretty much own that segment of auto.

I just bought a Fusion last month. Kind of surprising, I really like the car so far. Had one as a rental for a few months after Harvey, and enjoyed it so much I decided to buy one.

Buddy of mine has one as his company car, it was surprisingly (to me at least) nice the few times I rode in it.

Ironically, I think I had just decided yesterday that the Fusion was going to be my next car.

I'm pretty sure the Fusion will survive. It will probably be a Hybrid/Electric.

Its a good car and looks better than their competitors in the Camry/Accord
