how much do you think a top notch personal trainer cost? I'd guess 100K.

    Thought this line was funny.

Not having a lawyer is odd -- you'd think he had better things to do with his time, and the 'college dropout' qualifier is just funny -- afterall, he 'dropped out' for a multi million $ payday. :) .

actually his arguments make logical sense. if he spent 178k on trainers/equipment etc for him to be able to perform his job at a level his employers wish him to then he should be able to.

i mean if i had to buy a new laptop how is that any different if i use that laptop for work?

he may not get that though if they claim that the lakers provide the trainers etc but he has a case for that

if he wins man athletes are going to milk that loophole big time

I'm guessing that also includes a personal chef and the food he cooks.

If your employer provides the tools to perform your job, then you buying a laptop would be a personal expense. Frankly I don't see him winning either argument, but it was a worthwhile try on his part.

On another note related to Lamar's article, I really hate when people claim on their websites or social media pages that they've gone through more than most people can imagine. Give me an effing break Lamar!! You're a multimillionaire, married to a hoochie and have an addiction to candy. Get over yourself......and go help my fantasy hoops team win a championship!

Is that what he needs? A top-notch personal trainer to keep his ass in gear and keep him away from Reeses peant butter cups? By the way, I wonder why the article didn't say "personal trainer"? I assume because there's some B.S. included with that he doesn't care to be so forthcoming with.

I hear a gym membership, some personal motivation and common sense not to eat like a pig will do wonders for whooping someone into shape. But who needs self-discipline when you can buy it for $178K?

I don't blame him. The trainer fees are business expenses for him, the fines are reductions in income, and I support anyone getting any break they can from taxes. That being said, based on this:

    ...He's going to lose.

he has a clothing line and endorsement deals.

should have deducted against those. Once again, a bonehead play by Lamar :).

Most of you are hating on Lamar too much, he's taking on the IRS and he does have some legit points, I wish he would have prepared himself better and provided more details to make his case, but that is time consuming and without a good lawyer it will be tough for Lamar!
