Response He's making a hypothesis along "racial" (not racist) lines. Could be true. Don't have enough evidence to form a theory though. I am writing this way after having read the first Chapter from my kid's science book.
This was last night at the Toyota Center during UFC 166. If I remember correctly, they only showed Parsons, Dwight, and James Harden (who was on his phone) on TV. Here's a backstage interview with Dwight: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=9854068
Latino isn't a race, and most people know that there's more nationalism/rivalry with Latinos, i.e. Mexicans vs Puerto Ricans in Boxing.
I can see where you're coming from. But there's also one major extreme compared to the others. Race does play a factor, but every other group still has more than one player that they can follow around the league. Jeremy has a big Asian following more so because he's currently the only Asian-American in the NBA and a role-model. His following from Asia is credited due to the Chinese/Taiwan market. I don't think it would be the same, if let's say, Lin was a dark skinned Cambodian-American or Viet-American. Although, the Rockets did cut Lin the first time and Clutchfans never experienced Linsanity, a lot of people were defending him when GlenRice kept telling everyone it's because he's Asian. So the fighting we see now wasn't that extreme before. Everything changed when Lin was signed and the new wave of fans came in and both sides became defensive.
For those who are still debating who should start at PG, please read today's comment from McHale - "One other note, McHale said he plans to start Jeremy Lin at point guard but wants to see more of him and Patrick Beverley on the floor at the same time." I know we've tried, the Beardsanity. Dwight likes Dwinsanity. Someone mentioned Casspisanity... but in the end isn't the name that works the best, Bevsanity!
