Florida Men Facing Life in Prison for Colorado Pot Products

I don't know if obtaining a pilot's license, renting/buying a small airplane, filling the plane with drugs, and flying it to Florida is easier than smuggling it in the car you already own. It is probably the smarter way but remember that these gentlemen are from Florida, the land of bath salts and Chris Bosh.

 

1. It doesn't sound to me like the charges are made up. Seems like the likeliest thing is that they were smuggling drugs to sell them illegally in Florida.

2. Flying small planes is something drug dealers already do, and the Feds have already caught on to that little trick. I heard an article a little while back about how recreational pilots are complaining about needless harassment by the DEA who routinely search planes they think might be transporting. I think you probably are much more likely to get caught flying a small plane out of Colorado where you are one vehicle out of a hundred, than you are driving out as one vehicle in a million.

People would do the same for alcohol or cigarettes if they weren't fully legal
