First Take: Should James Harden be favored for a second straight MVP?

Quit watching people who don't know what they are talking about or old players who are salty about this generation and the money in today's game. Completely useless and I personally can't wait for Lebron to retire so they have even less to talk about. The only negative that does have an impact is that some of these folks have votes so it's just another reason to minimize awards. Just try and win, no one can take that away from you.

Yeah, any player can get 40 points..... but can they do it 4 games in a row? Can they get 8 straight games of 35 points or more?

And it's not like Harden is dropping those points against scrub teams, he's dropping them on good defensive teams this year...... without Paul and Gordon.

I say we need a highlight reel called "James Harden: WORST defender in NBA history!!!!" so people will watch it.

And "NBA Funny Defense Moments" has a thumbnail image of Harden on the court with question marks floating around his head.

Even "THE GREATEST VIDEO EVER UPLOADED!!! JAMES HARDEN PLAYS NO DEFENSE REACTION!" -- which is just people's reactions to one of the other bad Harden defense videos -- got 219K views.

What pisses me off the most is that you never once hear, "...but neither does Steph Curry."

 

It's because they're still living off his 15-16 season.

But if you create a video with that title, even if it’s a sarcastic title, it still spreads the false narrative that he plays zero D. Because we both know plenty of people will simply look at the thumbnail and title and go on their way. Confirmation bias is real. Most probably won’t even click on the video.

 

Richard Jefferson need to shut up and realize how great Harden is. Nobody getting 400 points over 10 games except him, Kobe, and Jordan. That's a good company.

Because Curry looks like a skinny boy pretty shooter and Harden has a scruffy beard, isn't light-skinned, doesn't show much personality in interviews, draws fouls with intelligence, and is thicc (jealousy)

 

Harden just don't give a f about media and they cant get over it. And hes so damn good at the same time.... hes just pain in the ass for them

 

Jefferson called the rockets a Bad team who are struggling to make the playoffs yet we are probaly the hottest team and were a Gordon buzzer beater and the rookie of the year hitting shots out of his ass away from being on a 12 game wining streak.wining 10 of the last 11 and sitting 4th in the west is not what a bad team does.

 

I hate it as much as anyone, but this garbage isn't worth getting upset over. ESPN is doing their best to stay relevant as a business, and it is very clear that hit pieces on Harden generate lots of clicks/views/etc. This isn't about actual opinions or actual analysis, it's about revenue. There's a reason we see SO many negative articles, social media posts, and commentary like this on Harden. For whatever reason, the masses eat it up. Social media and TV are actually very calculated in what they present, and the analytics clearly show that negative Harden pieces sell. My best guess is the Rockets just aren't a media giant, and companies are capitalizing on salty fan-bases that get upset when their team sends Harden to the line.

Personally, I'm doing my best to embrace being the villain and the underdog.

 

He won a championship with Lebron. So he's CLEARLY going to knock Harden. Look the media does NOT want any narratives other than Lebron James or Golden State. Harden's 40pt run is messing with their reporting. Notice how their narratives on Harden has changed to "Yea it's good, but can he sustain it?". Now it's not about his insane numbers, but his projections for the rest of the season. Foolishness

 

Lowe wrote that before the season and he is spot on. That was the thinking.

Now....Harden has busted into the MVP discussion like the Kool Aid man..... And Media and twitter is MAD!
