2001: Jerryl Sasser 2002: Ryan Humphrey/Curtis Bonchardt 2003: Reece Gaines And you thought the rockets drafting was bad. These players were all picked by the Magic......no wonder Tmac wanted to get out of that organization so badly.
It looks like about 1/3 of the first round picks will be no longer in the league within 5 years. If this trend continues expect another 5 or 6 players from the 2003 class to be out of the league after next year.
Freeland is 20yrs old and Portalnd might be bringing hime over for Summer League. Would be a good gamble as a 15th man if the Rockets can get their hands on him.
On a positive note, here are the 26th picks since 2001: 2001 Samuel Dalembert 2002 John Salmons 2003 Ndudi Ebi 2004 Kevin Martin 2005 Jason Maxiell 2006 Jordan Farmar
Oh come on. That's like saying the Rockets are good at drafting talent because they picked Yao. There have been very few times in NBA history that the team with the first overall pick didn't get somebody worth having. It's happened (Kwame Brown, Michael Olowakandi) but it doesn't happen often. The Magic couldn't have gone wrong with either Howard or Emeka Okafor.
Julius Hodge was released? He might be interesting....a big guy with handles.....he played for the Austin Toros in the NBDL...... Might be worth bringing to camp with a new coach. DD
Luke Jackson was scooped up by the Raptors late in the season otherwise you could have added his name to that list.
Yes. He was waived by the Bucks. The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on Julius Hodge, General Manager Larry Harris announced Wednesday. Hodge appeared in five games with the Bucks, logging nine points in 28 total minutes. He was acquired by Milwaukee from Denver on January 11, 2007 along with Earl Boykins in a deal that sent Steve Blake to the Nuggets. The Bucks roster now stands at 14 players. Hodge is a versatile player who needs to improve his shooting range and ability. He should be able to find a job as a backup swingman. http://www.insidehoops.com/hodge-waived-020807.shtml
