If he's not getting credit for the 1s, he doesn't get derided for the 2s and 3s. Make up your mind. FWIW, he's the one constant; since 2007, they've drafted Okoye, Brown, Cushing, Jackson, Watt, Merciles, Hopkins, Clowney, Johnson - I would put that up against any other team's in that time frame.
Agreed, don't deride (or give credit) to rick smith for the drafts that Kubiak and OBrien had final say over.
I started this thread and I haven't wavered. Actually my feelings have been reinforced. Fire Rick Smith and hire Duke Tobin.
I just think it's time to bring some one else in and give us a different look. With all the drafts he had we still have so many holes. They never take risks like the cowboys do we just play it safe and look where we are and where the damn cowgirls are
That mind set starts w.the owner, you're expecting risk taking from an ultra-conservative owner and Bob isn't that at all!
He has been here for 10 years and two coaches. The results are not satisfactory. I don't know what he does but the Texans suck so he contributed to that. There is no excuse to not fire him except he is a de facto member of the McNair family.
Why is this thread alive? Bob McNair already said that that he felt Osweiler did well Sunday and that the team played well and that he is confident in his GM and coach. Bob said everything is great, so why the worry?
Draft a quarterback, that's all I'm asking. It's the most important player of the team. It doesn't matter if you drafted the best player in the draft, it means sht when you have a quarterback that throws it away/fumbles it. Winning a game first starts with having a competent qb or a franchise one.
Drafting a QB is one thing. Developing him, and surrounding him with a surrounding foundation conducive to growth/success is an entirely different process that very few teams do well (while plenty of teams do poorly). The NFL is the only sport where "talent" doesn't necessarily outweigh ones coaching/roster situation.
Goff and Wentz aren't exactly setting the world on fire. Is T.J. Yates, pound for pound, the best QB for the Texans over the last 2 years?
Me too he is more of the problem than the solution. When you have multiple coaches, and GMs and you still have the same crappy results there is a problem bigger than changing yes men. They have a r****ded structure when it comes to player personnel. You say the GM runs the draft but with input from the coach and organization yet you draft players who do a certain thing well and your coach has them doing something completely different on Sundays. The sight of Bob and Cal in the room on draft day shows what a problem they are in the grand scheme of things. Bob is a meddler and he has the media in this town fooled like he lets his football people run the show and its really nothing close to that in reality.
