This is speculation that if Miami won the Finals, how could they not give it to Wade who so far has been the best player for the heat. He is averaging more points, same assists, more blocks, and they are very close in fg, and bron has one or so more rebounds. I think that would be pretty controversial in all this talk recently about LBJ being the next MJ when he doesn't get MVP of his own team, thoughts?
Magic has 5 rings and 2 Finals MVPs. Parker won a Finals MVP. Dumars won a Finals MVP. Kobe won last year over Gasol. Second or third fiddles win them all the time. Seems like you are trying to create drama where there isn't any.
mvp voting, both regular and finals isn't what it used to be, you could win mvps without having the best record (or close to it) for being the best player in the past too. Parker's was sort of a blip, because Duncan basically wasn't required to actually do much of anything in that series, if it wasn't a walkover, you could pretty much guarantee Duncan would have been forced the ball a lot more.
Lebron losing out to Dwade in terms of the Finals MVP is no shame. Dwade in his own right is future all-time great. But if you think Dwade as a basketball player is better than Lebron, you are either a hater or do not understand much about the game of basketball.
Wade probably takes it, he seems to go crazy during finals and making ridiculous plays. Lebron will be consistently good putting up a decent points decent rebounds and a lot of assists. But I don't think he will take over games like Wade in this series.
It will just further strengthen the argument that Lebron's potential ring with the Heat is weaker than Kobe's rings with Shaq.
I think it really depends on how the two play from here on out. They were just about equal in Game 1, IMO. Wade was clearly better in Game 2, but they ended up losing the game, so it was kind of a wasted performance.
That makes no sense at all. Kobe didn't ever win a Finals MVP with Shaq as his teammate, so how would it be worse for Lebron not to win the Finals MVP?
Bosh> Glen Rice/ Robert Horry How could it not be worse? Kobe won 3 rings as the 2nd best player on two star team. LeBron James might win 1 as the 2nd best player on a 3 star team.
There are at least 3 more games. If the Heat win, it's To Be Determined between Wade and LeBron. Predicting how each guy will play relative to the other is foolhardy. Each game is a separate contest. IMO, a lot will depend on if LeBron continues stroking 3s. But, remember, the Heat have to win 3 more times.
Whats the problem? Just using the same Kobe haters logic against the messiah. Bron better get that Finals MVP and lead the team in scoring to avoid the dreaded "sidekick" tag or "not the #1 option".
Yep, we should start discussing whether Wade or Lebron should get Finals MVP, where they're a rock solid lock to win the Finals after they just split on their home floor and choked a 15 point lead in 6 minutes. Seriously, WTF guys?
No, Magic went to the Finals 5 times but only got MVP three of them (I initially thought 2 but was mistaken); that means that two other times someone else got it (Kareem in '85 and Worthy in '88). Magic was the best player on both of those squads. And actually Magic got Finals MVP in '80 when he wasn't the best player (Kareem), although he didn't really earn that one since Kareem was the best player in that series but injured in the last game. I was just poking fun at Kobe although Gasol should have gotten Finals MVP last year.
