Really surprised, guess the pressure finally caught up with him. @MrBrightside: Will be interesting to see, somehow think Hussein won't win the election. Lots of legt candidates will come out, now that it's a fair election without Blatter. Hussein benefited from the fact that no one else wanted to join the farce and got all the Anti-Blatter votes, will be much tougher now. No one really knew anything about him prior to the past congress, he will struggle next time.
Get Luis Figo back in the frame! I'd rather vote for a former footballer who loves the game rather than someone who is all about the money.
Along with wearing those awful winged Adidas shoes while taking a bite off of everything on the $1 menu at McD's.
While I appreciate that he made the bet and should live up to it...no one should have to suffer like that. Great day for the game...but only if it leads to real change. And how big of a jackass is Blatter? He knew on Friday he wouldn't survive this. The election should not have gone down at all.
Wow. This is stunning. Lots of speculation going around. Ian Darke and Bob Ley just speculated that, in the last few days, somebody must've come to Blatter with something or somebody flipped and gave him up. Perhaps I'm wrong to think this, but if nothing structurally changes in FIFA, we'll have more of the same. The political bloc that Blatter created - UEFA/North America vs. Everybody - will continue to vote for his cronies so long as each country has one vote. He'll have time to hand pick a successor and have them get a rubber-stamp vote.
You would have to figure it has a large part to do with it. Plus, if he is under investigation by the FBI, he can likely see the writing on the wall. They keep saying this is an "old school, New York style RICO" investigation. Someone will roll on Blatter, if they haven't already.
Is there even a slight chance that the 2022 World Cup will be moved out of Qatar? Or is there going to be too much resistance for something that drastic?
Yeah Oliver was quite wrong there. Most popular country amongst Europeans and some South American countries sure, but not amongst African and Asian countries. It also depends on who wins the next election and takes over for Blatter.
