Why do some of ya wants to trade him already? I want him to play in a Houston Rockets uniform. He is young and talented. That is what the Rockets needed. No point in trading him for a older veteran that is on the downhill of his career like Pau Gasol. I think he will be a good player in the NBA in a few years. He just needs time to get adjusted to the NBA. Many of ya still haven't seen him perform yet in the NBA and you guys already talking about trading him? He is a young talented big man that can run the floor, finish around the rim, got a nice post game and a competitive fire in him. That is what the Rockets need in the process of rebuilding. You can't rebuild if you continue to trade your young talent for older veterans.
Why? To get something better. I don't think anybody's looking to make lateral moves. D-Mo plus Lowry plus #14 and/or #16 sounds like a nice package to trade for somebody.
I think Gasol is a great player. He definitely did do those things and I'm not ignoring that. But what I'm saying is that I don't see his skills rubbing off on Donatas. I don't think I would exactly be the only one to say that Gasol's effort at times has been inconsistent, especially the past two years. I don't think that was the case as much before, but now it seems to be. And considering Gasol already has made it pretty clear he wouldn't be jazzed to be here, I don't see that side of him changing. But whether he is less driven now or not is not really the point. My point is that players don't just pick up unique skills one of their teammates have because it just isn't taught to them the way we like to think it is. Coaches and retired players may offer that tuoring, but it is extremely rare to hear of or see a current player tutoring another guy to take his job. And once again, a guy like Gasol, especially doesn't seem like the type.
as far as I know it's just above average size for a sg, anyway his natural and first position is still small forward, say what you want. I rest my case.
In the NBA, it's average. Not saying he isn't more suited towards the SF position. But he won't be able to play that here if he can even make an NBA roster. If he's a worse shot than Goran and isn't a PG, I'm not sure he'll be able to make a team.
If he is going to be a project, then McHail better put in some serious time behind him. Otherwise it would be another McFail.
Man, watch more D-Mo games. He has as high of an upside as anyone in the 2012 draft except maybe Davis and Drummond. I really don't know how a defense is going to scheme for him except with frequent double teams. And, at 7' with great passing skills, he has no trouble finding the open man out of the double team.
Hey, I'm cautiously optimistic about D-Mo. But if he's really that good, other GMs will know that, too, and (for instance) D-Mo plus Lowry plus #14 and/or #16 can turn into some serious players and/or picks. It's by no means a given that we'd get less than we'd be giving up.
ur probably right...worse shot at the moment for sure, but it's not like he can't shoot or play SG, he's just that more suited on position 3. He had and probably will play SG at some point too, when it's needed, just need to improve his shooting percentage to be considered a regular guard. Hard working, very athletic, of course quick similar as Goran and great on rebounds, blocking shots, fast breaks. I strongly believe he'll make it to the nba, but at the same time I'm aware it probably won't be this year. I'm out.
For that package you should get Davis and their 10th. But you won't. Nobody is untouchable, but Parsons and D-Mo are the next best things. You should read http://www.freakonomics.com/2012/06/05/michael-jordan-the-bobcats-and-running-the-lottery-treadmill/ about the importance of developing your own talent.
I don't think the Rockets are going to sacrifice trading a talent like D-Mo for any unproven player out of the top 5. That would be a foolish gamble.
