Lin will have a big target on his back in games. Nothing new there.

Fact is, alot of vets hate it when newer players play well and get media attention. It's human nature. If you've been at a job for 5 years and the new kid comes in and makes you look mediocre, it's hard not to feel some resentment and a desire to go after them, especially if everyone is singing their praises.

And if you're a good player that gets ignored by the media, it's even WORSE. You think to yourself that "Lin isn't that hot" and you feel jealousy over the attention and the money he's earning.

So yah, target on Lin's back. However, given Stern is trying to grow the China market, it won't take many Hard Fouls before the directive comes down for the refs to Protect him. Stern knows which side of the bread is buttered.

As for off the court, the pressure on Felton will be far greater than the pressure on Lin.

Not only does Felton need to put up respectable numbers, but the Knicks need to WIN. They're positioned as a "Win Now" team... and if the Knicks aren't competitive this season, there is going to be ALOT of criticism.

Compare that with Lin... he can play decently and not get alot of Wins and alot of people will still reserve judgement.

And if Lin plays above average or better ball, even if Felton plays decently and the Knicks have a decent season, if the Knicks get flushed out of the playoffs, Felton STILL takes alot of heat. Alot of fans don't expect the Rockets to be a serious playoff team, or even contender this year.

Felton would be much wiser to just leave it at...

"He's a good player. He'll be tough to defend. I wish him luck, but I'm focussed on New York..."

Nice post. I'm interested to see how Lin responds and who on the team will man up when Lin gets mobbed. Hoping this will bring the guys together and make them a tighter knit group.

Nothing wrong with what he said, just stating the obvious. He sounds sympathetic. I think he has bigger shoes to fill.

Better get used to it. The Lin threads are going to be mainstays on the board this year.

Felton doesn't need a target on his back. You can see his fat ass a mile away.

Not sure what you're talking about. Felton is an expert at filling shoes.

How is this different from what Rondo said or what fans & media are thinking. Christ every PG in the NBA has a target on there back. You don't think guys are gunning for Rondo, or Rose or Russ. The only reason why people are making that big of a deal about Lin's target is because they want to keep the hype up & get clicks for there articles. Felton needs to worry about himself most importantly I saw him in Portland & he didn't look good.

The reporter should have asked Felton if Lin had a target on his back when Lin pwned Felton in their matchup last year.

Raymond Felton is just average, but he's always talking up his game as though he's an elite point guard. News for you Raymond, if you were as good as you say, you wouldn't have been floating around this league for the past few years being traded time and time again for fillers.

Maybe Felton thought the donut he's eating was a target on Lin's back.

Seriously, nothing really wrong with what he said. But coming from him isn't right. For one, he is the one who got a chance to inherit Lin's position. For two, he's had a lot to prove himself because of how bad he's been playing since he left NY.

Lol Felton tells the truth but Lin has been practicing hard and preparing with wisdom gotta give him that. Just going to be tough for Lin but I see him giving all he has within to do great.
