I hope JVG has learned something about an all offense system while he was commentating

Van Gundy was a great defensive coach but he was horrible offensively. Maybe he can find a great offensive guy. Most of our problems are defensive anyway and with Harden on any team you'd have a top ten defense so it could work. At the very least JVG isn't an idiot he's a smart guy. Brewer wouldn't see the light of day this year if Gundy was coach. That alone would've gotten us 5th seed.

    Oh clutchfans...

When JVG was here there were so many fire jvg threads.
But he did keep us competitive with scrubs on the floor. Ryan Bowen..?

JVG with a healthy Harden and Durant would have no problems offensively.

That's because JVG was the Rocket's head coach at the time. :)

I'd love to have JVG back. Improved defense will lead to improved offense

I remember that Sura, Wesley, Jon Berry team as being quite good offensively and fun to watch. JVG thrives with defense but if he has the personnel he can put together a legitimate offense.

I have problems with posts like these. Posts like these seem to assume that all those who now support JVG are the ones who asked for his firing all those years ago. In fact most of us weren't even members then. JVG had way more support than he had hate (mostly because he had no offensive system to speak of) unlike Mchale and JB both leaving with more hate than I've every seen towards coaches and rightfully so.

I'm hoping it's Jeff. Bringing Van Gundy back after being out of coaching for a decade and spending the whole time watching and commenting on the games is intriguing to me. I have a hunch that he will be really good the second time around, and have little to base that feeling on except that I like the guy. I like the idea of Van Gundy representing the team. Clutch, now that he has a media pass, would have a blast covering him. The interviews would be great. Who knows? We might win some games.

I don't think fans realize the Alexander makes the decisions. He listens to the front office and their suggestions... But Alexander will veto..he has done it on trades, and coaches.

The timing the Rockets last few coaching searches has not been great. Few really good coaches were available. Morey really wanted Carlisle as his head coach, but the timing was off....

Yes, I remember it well. Game 7 Mavs vs. Rockets; Mavs won 116 to 76. Yao scored 33, Tracy 27, Wesley 7, Sura 0, Barry 2.
Are we talking about the same people or did I miss the sarcasm face?

Don't look now, but Scott Brooks and Thibs are both off the list. Maybe they can talk Battier into it. Give him whatever he wants....
