I see a ton of people treating total speculation as hard fact here.

 

Looking at the market now, Mbah a Moute is either a better player or a better fit than most of the remaining options. Carmelo is one of the only ones you could talk me into based on upside. And after losing both Ariza and LMAM, I don't think the Rockets have the luxury of speculatively holding onto the MLE for potential midseason buyouts.

While we all may envy the relationship opportunities professional athletes get, I think most don't envy the content and motives of the relationships in which they engage.

My guess would be that the Rockets would look at Ellington and/or Young.... and there are some others out there as well.

The scoring load would likely largely be handled by Melo and the ball handling responsibility would depend on who else the Rockets added. If the Rockets added someone like Batum, he would handle the ball.

There is no perfect solution but there are possible workable solutions.

I'm not convinced the Rockets would use the MLE on Carmelo Anthony.

I very well could be wrong but I don't know that the Rockets are overly concerned about have early rights on a (then to be) 35 year old Carmelo Anthony.

 

Interesting. Sounds like MDA isn't sold on Melo if you ask me. If he signs with Miami, that team will be a 2 or 3 seed with ease, he has a defined primary role, and could enjoy that Miami life. So... if he ends up choosing Houston, it will be quite a big deal.
