The biggest knock on Collins is his defense. @BimaThug is particularly down on it. I think getting a defensive center piece while keeping every other asset they have would be a big get. That pick could prove to be valueable. Harden will be 33 by then and WB 34. Additionally they get out of Parker's contract.
What's even worse, and most don't even think about that right now, is that by doing this deal you help the Warriors in having another big 4 in the next months...imagine if this trade is what sets them up to get Giannis.
I do not see this as fact. The first time Shams mentioned Capela, the next sentence was about teams inquiring about Collins. Collins allows the team to have a a guy tall enough for center while also playing 5 out. A very reliable insider mentioned that John Collins was a target. He also said that talks were presumably no longer about him but if it was discussed it's possible.
Sure he performed well against the Rockets in the playoffs, but boy he has some unimpressive stats. Hard to get excited about Looney.
The trade I concocted had the Rockets giving up two firsts. One to the Warriors and One to the Hawks.
Everytime Looney plays the Rockets in the playoffs he felt like the next big thing. Ut then you go back and look at the stats, and look at how he plays overall, and look at his injury issues... and you realize... wtf? why would anyone want him. He's not even technically an expiring - he has a player option. Pass Hard pass
Dwight to Lakers? With Orlando, Denver and Philly, at least that's the only one i remember now lol The Butler trade was also a 3 team trade, but in a sign & trade scenario in the summer.
Rockets need to go as hard for AG as they have been for Covington IMO. Attack this trade on multiple fronts with multiple targets. Put RoCo on back burner. Clips, Mavs and 6ers cannot even give ONE FRP let alone two. Let Minny figure out Russell trade with their own picks + Wiggins. That will make them sweat.
When @Clutch compared paying a defensive/lob catching center to paying a running back, I thought he was spot on. That's not to say that Clint isn't a good player but a lot of his success is a direct result of the system (and by "the system" I mean James Edward Harden).
I'd take Aaron over Covington for the same price simply because he's much younger and has more upside, although i do feel like as today Covington might be a bit better here tbh. Regardless, i guess the Rockets are also stronger on Rob cause the contract makes them save around 4M, Gordon would up their salaries by like 3M so, those 7M are probably big for Tilman.
