Ariza obviously was a quality fit glue guy, but he has lost a step and seeing how he rec'd 15 million he is being overpaid by Phoenix -- i'm confident we will find a solid replacement there is a long way to go. Can't fault Ariza for taking the big pay day -- i'm guessing we'd offer around 7-8 million -- Trevor's got money, but he doesn't have 'turn down 7-8 million dollars to stay in Houston' money.

If we lose Ariza and Luc, that is a complete and total disaster if your goal is beating the Warriors.

No, Capela is a given, we need wings to allow us to switch on the perimeter.....one of the two are necessary, if we lose both, we need a 3 and D wing....something fierce.

After having such a historic season while taking GSW to 7 games, you'd think FAs and other hungry players would be lined up to join us. This sucks.

    Players want money

If it is about ring chasing they all sign with GSW.

No team really wanted to pay DC so he decided to rehab and chase ring at some time.

That supposed 2 year deal NO offered likely had a team option 2nd year.

And for the Rockets, they needed their MLE to get replacement for starting SF, be it LUC or someone else.

*and don't adequately replace them that is... Morey knows what he needs, there will be a player in that mold in that position before the season starts...

while a good exception, it was 23-24 years ago. I would still put that in the rarely column.

We are unable to trade for stars, but we can use our cap room to sign stars.

It requires young players, picks, cap flexibility to trade for stars.

I really want to add stars to defeat F Warriors.

They might have been if the Rockets had the money and more importantly the minutes to give them. Why join a team for little money and play minimal minutes.

Ariza leaving opened up SF but outside Lebron, that well is dry.

Considering the contracts that have been given out. Other than Cousins (which is an edge case) what player(s) have the Rockets missed out on that were available for the TaxPayer MLE? (and we don't know if we have to dip into that to get Luc back at this point).

    To win a championship.

It's worked for the Warriors the last 3 seasons. Players go there on the cheap.

We are over the cap and don't have any cap room. We cannot sign stars but stars are traded for all of the time. That is how we got Harden and CP3. The only way we can acquire players is through trade, Bird rights, taxpayer mid level exception, and vet min.
