The trade for Shumpert decreased the Rockets chances of ever winning in the foreseeable future. As other teams are getting better, the Rockets peaked last year and put themselves in a position where they have no chance to improve in the next few years. Rockets will most likely get worse in the future as Harden is playing as great as anyone possibly can this year, while the rest of the core players will only be going downhill from here.

The one piece we could've packaged for a good player was traded along with trade assets in the form of a FRP, for someone who's a significantly worse fit than Ariza in Shumpert. Not sure why Ariza is hated on so much for not accepting to take a discount from an idiot cheapskate owner. Not only is Ariza a better all around player than Shumpert, he's a legitimate defender you can put on KD, and his height makes him a much better fit on the Rockets who are loaded with short guards and undersized forwards. Given the deal given to CP3 I don't see how anyone can possibly think that the deals done this year are bringing the Rockets closer to a legit shot at a championship.

Agreed, it was painfully obvious the orders Morey was given.

This matters ESPECIALLY if the Rockets get back to the WCF. This team has a limited window, the lack of substantial addition to take advantage of the window speaks volumes about Tilman.

It's pretty clear once a major trade was out of the picture, the default plan was to get under the luxury tax to avoid the repeater.

I dispute that restaurant man disputes and find it odd that he would dispute as such.

I wish Tilman would just embrace it too so we wouldn't have a bunch of drama queens on the board acting like it's something else.

Two teams in the west pay 50 million tax. It could mean they have better players. Morey and mda need to be best, otherwise can’t win the west this year.
    Maybe next year....

Wouldn’t be surprised if Tilman fires Morey and hires a much cheaper replacement this summer.. Morey will be the perfect fall guy for the “get under the LT at all costs” order Tilman gave him.

Last year was one of the best team ever.
This year There is a good chance to be defeat in 2nd round.

How can this happen? From 65 wins to 50 wins..
Next year It’s going to be struggle to make playoffs if faried and rivers want 3 million or more.

tilman could really turn away fans from this team. most houstonians are bandwagoners anayway, so this could be a reality. i hope rockets tix and merch sales plummet to crisis levels under tilman for being a lying cheap mafia boss. then he can sell the team to a rich arab sheikh and turn this team to manchester city.

Paul and gordon declined so much On defense and 3 point accuracy. Why didn’t he trade for Tobias Harris if tilman really wants to win championships?
