Along this train of thought, since it's July 25th, during Morey's tenure as asst GM & GM, the following players have been acquired after July 25th:

Ron Artest, Omer Asik, Bonzi Wells, James Harden, Courtney Lee, & Von Wafer among others.

Not defending what's happened but I don't believe that there is this 'stand pat' attitude or that the roster is set for what we'll have at the start of the season based on numerous deals done later in free agency/training camp.

    Yes, I referenced Bonzi Wells

Because they think no one else does. Of course we hear a lot of Morey, we're supposed to. We're not going to hear about the Raptors or Portland's GM as much, if at all, unless it's something huge or we go digging for quotes.

Dorsey may have the potential to rebound, but he is much more likely to foul out verses Asik, nor can he defend like him.

Asik needed to go, and he gave us limited production. However, he was our insurance when Dwight got hurt.

Ariza and Adrein are good additions, but we do need a backup SF. If Ariza goes down we are toast. Aminu was acquired for cheap by the Mavs. He would have been better than the non-guaranteed Gee.

DM is a good GM, but a lot of the guys here think he can do no wrong.

I'm pretty sure he meant that Canaan is a better fit than Lin in our offense.

Coaching needs have yet to be addressed either. Even Pops needs help. McHale needs a lot more.

It's not like the man can say anything else when there's still Harden and Dwight on the team... It's easier to temper expectations with reality when you don't have two so-called "superstars" on the roster...

Morey has said our coaching situation (McHale) is fine, Les echoes this sentiment... yet are looking for assistant coaches... We were weak in perimeter defense, so he got a defensive wing... but this isn't a video game... That stats won't simply adjust to the point of having a more than marginal influence on the end-of-season outcome...

Ariza is going to have a minimal effect on our team... Our real biggest problems were coaching, and team culture/team identity... That has zero chance for change next season unless McHale and Harden do their part... When you realize how bad that combination is, that idea becomes terribly unlikely...

Your basically throwing away a season before it even starts. There is this crazy thing called improvement that happens in life.

cyberx, IIRC, has mentioned Morey realizes Asik was the insurance for Dwight and that's what he was currently worried about. I get that, Dorsey won't fill his shoes over 30+ mins a game, but it's not really logical to stress over that, IMO. Yes, you want to have solid back ups, but in the end, this team isn't winning a ring with Howard's back up, regardless of who it is. It's like Miami worrying about Lebron going down or OKC with Durant. You're screwed, period. You may win or lose with them, but without them, you just lose.

So that being said, people are freaking out like Dorsey can't rebound or defend and will have trouble putting up any production. He can do both, actually they are his specialty. It's not going to be a total disaster. Sure, he lacks size and is known for fouling, but he's probably only going in there for 10 mins.

I see what he is saying here, but I don't agree. There is a middle. It all depends on the move you are making.

For instance..... If you are down 3 points and there is 5 seconds on the clock and you take a shot from half court and make it, everyone will be saying how great of a shot it is. But if you miss that shot, everyone will ask why you didn't get closer, and say how bad of a shot selection that was especially with enough time on the clock to get a better shot. On the other hand, if you get all the way to the three pt line and shoot it, hit or miss it won't have nearly the effect on people as it did when you shot it from half court.

So if Morey went for Melo/Bosh and hit, then of course he would have been praised. But he missed on both and also lost 3 key pieces to the team, so he was going to get backlash. Where I don't agree with him is that if he had added some pieces from the Lin & Asik trades to help us on the court (not assets and cap space), and then used the MLE & BAE to put other good role players/veterans around Harden/Howard, it would have been considered a good offseason (not great, but not terrible).

Honestly, Asik and Lin weren't all helpful last year. We need Ariza more than we need Parsons. I do feel we are better this year.

So based on what Morey said...

"Sometimes you have 11 and you double down and you get two. It doesn't mean it was wrong to double down."

So we doubled down and lost. Next deal is about CP.

Would that be equivalent to us having 16 and the dealer is showing 6 or 7?

You are right about the Lebron/Durant analogy, but we need to get into the 2nd round of the playoffs, while maintaining flexibility.
We can't afford another 1st round exit.
