    Won't happen. The Rockets are gonna be no better than .500 again next season and Toyota Center will have a lot of empty seats.

    How the hell do you know what's in JVG's mind when it comes to coaching?

    This is projection on the highest level by Rockets fans drunk in Nostalgia for a mediocre coach that couldn't even get us out of the 1st round of the playoffs.

    It means that the Rockets know he is a genius offensively (and he really is) and he has absolutely no damn idea what to do on the defensive side of the court.

    D'Antoni is trying to cobble together a staff that will alleviate some of those concerns.

    It means he needs to assemble a staff that has good defensive coaches.

    I don't believe our scoring is soley on the coach we have. We need better players on the roster and on the court together. Having several one dimensional players on the floor running a new offense still wont make us score more points. Gotta get the right players to make it work.

    There are two other finalists but it seems D'antoni is Les favourite and personal choice.
    And also it seems he's the best in doing interviews. So we are doomed.

    Scoring was a huge issue is harden isnt getting to the FT line and the 3pt spamming isnt falling

    Whatever happens I'm running with it no matter what. I'm going to try to be positive about it until the season starts. If we happen to start looking miserable again then like everybody else I will call for his head. But until we see how this plays out I'm going to try to be as positive about it as I can. I know I'm a homer and I have my homer glasses on.

    Rockets will put a top notch [defensive] staff around him.
    Rockets will put top Xs and Os assistants around McHale. :rolleyes:
    So top notch, you end up with John Blair Bickerstaff coaching your team.

    Might as well keep "wonder-coach offensive coordinator" Chris Finch around. :rolleyes:

    D'Antoni promised lots of things and he really really knows basketball, so yes he interviews extremely well.

    Les likes very bright people, and for as bad a person as D'Antoni is, he is extremely smart and a good communicator.

    Bunch of illogical arguments on here.

    Both JVG and D'Antoni stink in terms of candidates. They both haven't had successful careers in a long ass time.

    So why hire him then? Do they still not realize the importance of coaching?

    BTW, D'Antoni just turned 65. Not saying he's too old, but I'd prefer someone younger.
