U.S. District Judge Franklin S. Van Antwerpen also ordered Jay W. "Bill" Charles, 55, to complete 100 hours of community service by tutoring minority students in mathematics. Charles, of Leola, Pa., apologized at Tuesday's sentencing at the federal courthouse in Easton. "I deeply apologize to Allen Iverson and his family for my lack of judgment and stupidity," Charles said. "Hopefully, he will find it in his heart to forgive me. I never felt any animosity, hatred, prejudice or viciousness toward the Iversons." Iverson did not attend the sentencing, but a prosecutor read a letter from him in court. "I don't believe anyone has a right to threaten me or my children," Iverson wrote. "Since receiving the unprovoked threat, I have moved my family into a home with a sophisticated security system and hired more security to guard my children." Charles sent the threat to Philadelphia radio station WIP-AM on May 16; in it, he described shattering Iverson's kneecaps and dismembering his daughter. Charles, who had no prior criminal record, pleaded guilty July 28 to one felony count of transmitting interstate threatening communications. His message was considered an interstate communication because it went through a server in Atlanta.</p> </td> </tr> </table> ------------ Dang. Kneecaps and dismembering daughter? Definately a loony. What surprises me is that he didn't have any previous records. ------------------ Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! A retired H.S teacher...maybe the stress level matches Postal workers. This may be a randon lunacy, but I can't blame Iverson for a heightened level of security. With 240+ million of us, the % of loonies out there increases daily. I'm not an Iverson fan, but he's got my sympathy on this one. ------------------ GATER
