Personally, it feels like Morey's reputation has finally caught up with him. Treating players like assets has given both players and other GMs reason to not buy into what he is selling. I've never liked how he was building this team, but when he moves DMo to get something for him before losing him to FA and then follows up by keeping Dwight and letting him walk without anything to show makes no sense. Just my opinion, but I think the Morey experiment has finally run its course.
What we have learned is that the FO has as little faith in this group as most of the fans do... we are done this season... we traded guys that could contribute this year (but have no value past this year) for a future asset (draft pick)... guess we try to lose the rest of the year, miss the playoffs and retain the pick that would be going to Denver (for lawson) if we make the playoffs... that's all she wrote til the offseason...
Not a fair comparison. If we had drafted Kawhi or someone that good, we'd have kept him. We never drafted higher than 14 in the Morey era so I don't think the comparison to the Warriors is valid at all.
Jeremy Lamb, Rudy Gay.. Even if Rockets get a high pick, they'll find a way to screw it up. Moreys job isn't scouting so I don't blame him, and he's not the coach so he needs to stop acting like one. Rockets just need a little stability like hanging on to Harden for his career and then go from there. Get career players not just rentals that's in coaches as well
I've had time to over react and reflect on what happened or didn't happen today and I've come to the conclusion that this could actually be a good thing, especially for our young hungry players. Trading away oft injured DMo (damn, sucks I'm going to have to take Dmo off my predictive texts) gives more time for Harrell and Jones to gain more confidence, trading Thorton now make KJ Harden's immediate back up. KJ and Harrell bring incredible defensive energy and ridiculous athleticism. Ty is starting to come on, the issue with Ty is he's very small, whatever he gives you offensively is negated by his defensive effort, if he can stop playing like Tywon and can get close to Denver Ty we are a force. Keeping Dwight is what should have happened, I stand by this 100%, playoff Dwight is an absolute monster and we aren't winning anything without a guy like that and Clint gets to continue to get better going up against Dwight in practice. Oh yeah and Sam Dekker is back. Our rotation should be tighter and now this stretch run is all about chemistry, can J.B get these guys to put aside their bull**** and play to their potential? Lets hope the time away during the break was what the doctor ordered Pat/ Ty/ Jet Beard/ KJ Ariza/ Brewer/ Dekker Capela/ Jones/ Smith/ Harrell Howard/ Capela/ Smith
Totally agree but without the sad face. I didn't want to watch this group flounder its way into the 8th seed to get teabagged four times by Golden State. Let's tank hard, keep our pick, and see what we can do.
I have no faith that anyone in this org can find those guys, that will fit together and win, and convince the right ones to come to Houston. None, cap flexibility has never won a God Damned thing. Yes, I did, because good organizations KEEP their good players, we are NEVER going to compete with the Spurs and Warriors with this failed broken flip flip flop philosophy. Not that it matters, but Morey has had his chance, he needs to go. DD
Exactly. It's going to be (yet) off season full of anxiety as the Rockets get in the KD line (Along with everyone else in the NBA). You will excuse my pointed lack of enthusiasm for a re-run of the Chris Bosh experience.
