Conley is a damn good player, give him a pass on that one. My favorite thread of his was when he gave up on the griz for good a couple years ago, looking for a new bandwagon to ride with

You see that Mr. Clutch, this guy has been on the boards for less than a year now and he already knows what I am famous for on the boards. That's unreal. I need to translate those skills into a marketing campaign for my business!

    The players chosen above him

    Anthony Bennett
    Oladipo
    Otto Porter
    Cody Zeller
    Alex Len

Only Oladipo has played up to and better than Noel so far. Bennett was in much better shape and I was expected actually a decent season from him after seeing him play really well in summer league. I dont know if the trade had an effect on him sending him to a team with a lot of PFs and all. Who knows.

Porter has plain sucked. Len has been better this year and Zeller is decent but neither of them are as good as Noel has been. Once he puts on more strength and develops offensively he is going to be a beast. His quickness and defensive instincts are some of the best I have ever seen in a young big man.

If Embiid is the guy the Sixers hope for him to be next year than that front court duo of Noel and Embiid are going to wreak havoc across the league for years

Portland drafted Greg Oden #1 despite him being somewhat damaged goods already.

Portland drafted Sam Bowie #2 overall despite him being damaged goods.

Teams fear big man injuries because they can be difficult to recover from, and for many one injury is just a precursor for more injuries.

And truth be told, he is still a long way away from being a star in this league.

I suggest you to keep your day job, don't really think you can be the next Chris Farley in SNL.

for someone that doesn't have any real skills and relies on athleticism for his defense and weighs 200 lbs for a big, after a major injury. sounds about right.

Yea. You never know how its gonna turn out. I don't blame anyone for passing on Noel considering the injury. Imagine if New Orleans kept Noel instead of dealing the pick for Jrue Holiday (who has been very injury prone in his two seasons with the Pels). That would be one scary front court defensively.

It seems like ACL injuries are less career threatening than they used to be. You sit out a full calendar year and then you come back. But for every Westbrook/Noel there is a Derrick Rose.... so who the heck knows.

The Bowie pick is a bit of a head scratcher, didnt he get injured while in college and put up sub-par numbers his senior season? I would be hard pressed to draft a guy who is still visibly showing ill effects from an injury. Greg Oden was so dominant in college (with one hand) and in the brief time he was healthy in the NBA that I understand the temptation to take him. Was the fact that one leg was significantly longer than the other a well known fact at the time?

^ if NO kept Noel and didnt make that trade

    Davis
    Noel
Elfrid (thats who the Sixers picked - and flipped - with the NO pick)

that would have been a really good core moving forward along with the other vets they have around right now. There would be literally no way to score inside with Noel and Davis and Payton is a tenacious perimeter defender as well.
