The two types of acetylcholine receptors are muscarinic (for the active drug in a type of mushroom). and nicotinic. Endorphin is a portmanteau for endogenous morphine. The receptors (and in the case of cannaboids, the neurotransmitters themselves) get named after the drugs because that is the way they are discovered. The reason they are called "cannaboids" is because they were discovered by people researching how THC works. For the most part, if a substance isn't similar enough to a substance in the body to activate a receptor, like cannaboids are to THC, nicotine is to acetylcholine, or alcohol to GABA receptors, then it isn't a psychoactive substance.
