We have so many second rounders in the upcoming years, I don't think we need another one. If someone really wants him I want a true piece now - whether that is a player or a first rounder.

Maybe we can package him with someone to get a rotational payer back. If not - why bother. He is a promising player, I would like to see what he can do next season.

    He is actually wrong

the International buyout amount in the CBA this year is 575,000 and is paid by the team, everything over that has to come from the player from their salary.

Just checked with someone who would know. I'm told there's not an NBA buyout deadline in Papanikolaou's contract, to the Rockets' knowledge. Don't expect him to come over this year though ... it's "unlikely."

Buyout amount for this season is 575k
    http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q75

In Kostas case where the buyout is 1M US, the remaining 425k can be paid out of his own pocket or by the team. If it's the team paying, that amount is evenly spread over the life of his contract

    For e.g, 3 yr contract = (Yr1 salary + 141.7k), (Yr2 salary + 141.7k), (Yr3 salary + 141.7k)

I take this to mean that Pap understands that coming to the Rockets could possibly mean rotting on the bench for a net salary of under 200K for 3 yrs.

How about the right to swap 1st rd picks in say 2015. That seems on the expensive for what he's worth but reasonable. It would be nice to build up our assets a little more for a potential Aldridge/Love trade.

Thanks Clutch... It makes no sense to trade Kostas straight up because we can't take on anymore salary at all. So unless this a deal involving one of our other players and Kostas are we get a 1st round pick from one of those teams (not very likely considering next years draft) than I would say this trade is not happening.

I think if Papa's traded, it's like with a 2nd rounder for a future 1st type of deal. Future 1sts, even if it's not the upcoming season, still feels better than 2nd rounders in a trade because it's consolidated asset. Morey needs to get more trade chips for his next big move.

I heard the Bucks accepted the trade then backed out when they realized it included his mother and his uncle spyros, Opa Gus, and his other cousin Stavros.

Not enough diners in Milwaukee to keep them all busy

wow, that is interesting. I would imagine especially for a really enticing prospect who might not have the bankroll to buy himself out for the NBA transition it would be difficult since they haven't made the big bucks yet. Makes sense that teams can structure accordingly.

Yes. Somehow move Lin, pap, picks for Irsan. Would be perfect fit next to Dwight and is young. Morey can find a way to make it work.
