Jason Eugene Terry talks a good game. He is a "winner," "veteran," and beloved "leader" and is great for "chemistry." He generally makes a decent % of 3s when left open. He is a great guy to have on your team as long as your team doesn't need him to do much more than shooting spot up 3s and giving pep talks to the team-- and he does give you these. But when the opposing PG does need defending and the team needs someone to actually create stuff off the dribble? Well, you get 3 point shooting and pep talks. In interviews, the team (McHale in particular) keep singing his praises, but all that professionalism, leadership, swagger, veteran savvy, and whatever other quality that he brings are fool's gold when you run into a good opponent in the playoffs and actually need him to play basketball. Shame on Morey for if he thinks that Eugene is all Rockets need at PG.
Come on man. Terry was never plan A. Terry was plan B/C/D. Canaan had trouble shooting in Rocket's red and Bev getting injured was never part of the script. Now, why we didn't go after Nate Robinson after his 10 day expired with the Clips eludes me. Maybe he was no longer playoff eligible?
Maybe Morey thinks we need Beverley with Eugene off of the bench? Let me know if I need to slow down for you. Maybe I'm just missing a joke.
So Beveley can suck as the starter while Eugene sucks off the bench? Beverley's game has dropped off a cliff due to knee issues this year even before his season-ending injury. The team had to have Ariza guard the opposing PG often when Beverley couldn't do the job. And even at Pat's peak, he is little more than a spot up shooter on offense. The Rockets perhaps couldn't have seen that in summer 2014, but they had plenty of evidence by February 2015 to see that the Beverley-Terry combo would be inadequate. They had opportunities to address the issue and did pursue solutions but each time prioritized other things. They met with Lowry but demanded that he wait for Melo to reject Houston first. They could have signed or traded for someone else with a dribble drive game (Sessions, Aaron Brooks, Isaiah Thomas, whoever) but chose to pursue flexibilty and assets instead.
Not Terry's fault Dwight is getting linked and that Harden is letting Matt Barnes **** in his and his mothers mouth. "Superstars" Morey are building around are soft as Charmin, period.
anything you can get from a 57 year old is just gravy. I'd try to put nick johnson in the mix with terry and prigs, 15 minutes each. desperate times
Somehow you keep posting gloom and doom rarely making sense yet people keep repping you for it. Are you related to Obama?
See Carl, if you wanna troll you gotta go for the gold. What you should have written was a piece about how Terry was a trojan horse from Cuban to us, all just to make us look bad against the Clips. That would have been 100x better than this piece...
Pure myth smh How many elite pg's went off against us this year? Considering EVERY player has bad stretches offensively and defensively, how many games did the opposing guard torch Beverley? I actually watched every game and there aren't many you can name. But please explain lol In actual reality, we really miss Bev's toughness. What you're seeing is the LAC's guards running circles around Terry & Prigs. Not only that but they're showboating while doing it. Beverley wouldn't tolerate this nonsense
Had a bad "Bobby Jackson '08" feeling with Jason Terry as STARTING pg in the playoffs. Similar to when Rafer Alston got hurt and BJax had to carry pg load with heavy minutes. Very vital in reg season (and 22 game win streak) but bottom was bound to fall off the old body. (If its making another parallel, it was wanting Aaron Brooks to get time, now its half-wanting Nick Johnson to see time)
