Chad Ford aggregates general sentiment around the league. To the extent that he misses something, the entire league does as well. If he was known for his talent evaluation, some team would be paying him to do that.
Singleton is a one-way specialist. He will drag down a team's offensive efficiency. He's a glorified Ryan Bowen. He'll never be any kind of offensive threat, just a garbage man and running the break for dunks and playing D. He'll play in the NBA but he's JAP, just another player, a one-way player. Kawhi Leonard is not much better, a glorified garbage man. To spend a lottery pick on him is ridiculous. He's a workout warrior but slow and mechanical. He'll never be able to give you any kind of offense besides garbage putbacks and cuts for dunks. That's it. You can get both of these guys' equivalents in the second round for a little of nothing and Jimmy Butler is likely one of those second round picks that will have just as good a career as they do. I'm not convinced Harris will stick in the NBA much past a cup of coffee.
Level of competition was different as well. Brooks played his basketball in the toughest conference in the nation. Jermaine Taylor played in Conference USA. In conference play while he was at UCF, he played one team (Memphis) that could compete in the Big East.
