I didn't even know they had that many. It always struck me as odd how many random people they had devoted to "covering" (i.e. just standing in front of so-and-so's training camp/locker room at any given moment) just one team though.
I'm never happy to see somebody lose their job. Most of the people that will get axed aren't rich or famous. Having said that, I love seeing ESPN get what they deserve, it's just unwatchable most of the time. Instead of simply reporting, and showing highlights, it has become a 24 hour op-ed channel. Not even good opinions, or interesting analysis, just blowhards spouting whatever the narrative is, or some "hot take" just to get a reaction. They have a show like NFL matchup, which is genuinely interesting, but because it isn't tailored for r****ds it's relegated to graveyard slot Seriously, f**k ESPN. They have some occasional good programming, but it's mostly trash.
The picture in the Tweet is ****ing FIRST TAKE (y'alls FAVORITE SHOW). It's like, yeah, we fired EVERYONE, but we're still gonna air this ****.
I've never watched a single one of these opinion shows and never will. Most of these blowhards think they're more important than the sports they cover. No thanks. Last show I watched on ESPN besides an actual game was NFL Primetime, which was a great show back in the day. Even with Berman's annoying catchphrases.
I used to watch PTI. That was good. Their takes had some nuance to it. But it's been years for me since I watched their non-game programming.
PTI is actually one of the few shows I do watch, maybe it's because it was the granddaddy of these debate shows. Kornheiser and Wilbon feel like two guys giving their opinion, and not mugging for ratings. It has always felt more natural, at least to me. All of the imitation shows (and there are a ton of them) are loudmouths trying desperately to get attention. But I only watch when Kornheiser and Wilbon are together, a guest host is an immediate delete.
The only show I try to watch is PTI......stopped watching Mike and Mike a few years ago, between the ads and the teases I could not stand that POS anymore. Sucks to get fired for anyone, but I would not be mad if Stephen A Smith got the boot
I don't like to see anyone lose their job... but I wouldn't give 2 ***** if they gave Amin el asshat the Axe.
They can't wait until after the NBA and NHL playoffs are over (or even the NFL draft)? Now ESPN itself becomes major news during an important period of the sports calendar.
as awful as the ESPN format is, the problem was them severely overpaying for broadcast rights and now the on-air talent is paying the price I read somewhere that the average cable subscriber pays $30 per year to the NBA, even though hardly any subscribers actually watch it. That's how stupid ESPN was in their TV deal negotiation (and why NBA salaries have ballooned).
