I think everybody needs to chill. This looks like total ESPN sensationalism to me. No quote in context? No report on what question she asked to get him to say something like that? From reading his tweets, it seems like he would totally answer "I would be ready to quit the NBA" if she asked a question like "If you can't get this figured out" or "If you're not getting the support you need." Yahoo says things are getting better, Colleen Dominguez says it's not. I'll take yahoo any day.
I am speculating because FO seemed to be caught by surprise. Mental illness like the ones Royce got doesn't deveop overnight.
They knew he had anxiety disorder...but I don't know if he was subjected to additional psych evaluations leading into the draft. That he had an anxiety disorder was known while he was at Iowa State.
I'm pretty sure he got worse after the draft. He gained more and more momentum as his voice reached more people. It's pretty self explanatory. Willing to quit. Not he quit. So, it means he's willing, if he deems it necessary and we all know only he knows what necessary will be.
Reeks of a headline trying to grab the attention of the story. Royce has said many times that he'd rather not play than risk his health. I don't believe he's serious at all ... not if he realizes the $$ will be gone.
Royce WhiteVerified @Highway_30 I'm not PLANNING on quitting, but its between my HEALTH and BASKETBALL, health takes precedence. You should never choose ANYTHING over it.
If he thinks he has anxiety issues now, just wait until the bills start flowing in and he has no money to pay them.
Royce White @Highway_30 NBA might be a dream come true, but being UNHEALTHY isn't, people will know I stood up for myself a d what's right. #NeverABadTime
He's just trying to blackmail the Rockets more, I'm sure. He's delusional if he thinks this will work for him.
