and still it's anything but elite.
He's NOT a good rim protector.
That was only my point. And the overstatement about all of DMO's abillities in the last few days here. I think a lot of people will get dissapointed because it seems what they remember from last year was a superstar. And he wasn't. He isn't even a stretch 4 since he hasn't shot with enough volume to be classified as one. But whatever.

you are so not remembering that he's our only big to understand the rule of verticality - that knows how to move his feet and protect the weak side. He improved significantly on defense and was able to anchor us when dwight wasn't present for solid stretches throughout the season. Something that was frequently pointed out.

good that he improved from his second year. Still not elite.
Doesn't matter what other guys are in the roster, DMO as a player of this league and a combo big is not a good rim protector. He's not attrocious like Thad Young or Kanter but good he isn't. He's a bellow average rim protector that improved from the year prior.

We better hope he continues improving but this overstatement of all his skills is getting ridiculous.

here's the cool thing malakas - we'll find out who's right over time. don't take pot shot's based on your perception. Have the strength of conviction to stay firm in your beliefs.

Personally, I don't think i'm overestimating his skills. Simply pointing out he was a vital cog to last years machine and his skills fill much needed holes on the roster. Glue players come in all shapes and sizes, but their ability to bring continuity through bridging skillset deficiencies is universal.

I'm talking about his last year perfomance not future perfomances. Which are based on FACTS. Trying to imagine the past as something else than it was is different than projecting the future.
For sure he's a glue guy...superstar caliber player that he's portrayed to be by the amount and the quality of his skills he wasn't/isn't.

Bickerstaff is not going to fix what is wrong with this team, he was part of the problem. Players not hearing his message, too similar to McHale's.

Need another shake up, on the roster as well as coaching staff. Continuity be damned.

    I don't buy it.

Players didn't hear they just went to WCF?
Harden didn't hear he was MVP runner up?
Players didn't hear how much money they are getting paid?
They didn't hear that someone is going to win the championship this year?
They didn't hear that the western conference is super competitive?
They didn't hear of a thing called a "window of opportunity"?

Did McHale need to say these things?
He said these things and they didn't hear him?
He just forgot to say these things?

It's BS. The players have been immature.

They went to WCF without DMo in the playoffs.

And on the other hand, Harden has his best season ever (MVP worthy) after being coached by Coach K and Coach Thibs in off season. Coaching matters.

Sure coaching matters. But playing pro-level basketball all summer mattered a lot more than Coach K. Harden started last season in mid-season form, after winning FIBA. This season he had not been playing all summer, and evidently he forgot everything he learned from Coach K too, whatever that was.

They went far in the playoffs without dmo because he carried the entire load when Tjones and D12 were out at both the PF/C position. Without Dmo, this team would've been a 7th seed at best. He was a huge help to Harden.

Don't look like the Navy Seals speech worked. Still playing like hot garbage.

Of course the rockets look good in practice.

The offense gets to play against our defense and vice verse.
