A few notes on how this might go down:

    1. The deal most likely has to be completed before June 30, 2013, the day on which each of AB and Delfino's contract becomes guaranteed. I suppose it is possible for teams to agree that HOU would pick up the option of AB/Delfino and then complete the trade in July, but I doubt HOU would go this route and risk even minimal exposure to the possibility that the other team goes back on its promise.

    2. If so, then the only trade partners that HOU would be looking at are teams with sufficient 2012-13 season cap room, a large enough trade exception, or enough players with non-guaranteed 2013-14 contracts to send back to Houston.

This is a fairly limited universe of teams.

I could see the Spurs giving us a 2nd round pick for Delfino. He would be fantastic there behind Kawahi.

Sounds to me like Morey is trying to gather more tradeable assets... There's a strong possibility Howard won't come and Morey may take a run at LMA or Love. Maybe even DMC (if he isn't worried about his attitude)...

Its gotta be Portland. The Blazers need depth off the bench. If they can acquire AB and T-Rob, they'd probably be willing to deal the 10th pick for those two. Currently living in Portland, I get to hear all the inside talk on the radio that not a lot of other people get to hear. From what I hear, Portland doesn't like this draft all too much and is looking for a deal to land them a big. However, they want to do that through free agency. So if they can acquire two solid bench players, I think they'd settle with that.

No surprises there, but anyone with half a brain knows the Rockets intentions and can simply wait to pick these guys up.

There might be a little bit of a market for someone like Delfino, so maybe a team doesn't want to deal with that. They might value locking him up before he hits the open market. Not saying this is going to happen, but that would be the motivation to give up a 2nd rounder for him.

Anyone that psychically knows they're the only ones who want them, that is.

BLN needs a backup PG, has BLN TE? trade AB to BLN for a second round draft pic
Delfino should be easy to trade

I mentioned in another thread, Chicago has the biggest trade exemption (exception?) in the league @ $5m and could become a suitable trade partner.

Seeing as they might amnesty Boozer and there are rumors they are dealing Deng, I think it makes a bit of sense that they can use Brooks, Delfino and a PF.

Is it too obvious what we're trying to do here so a lot of GMs have leverage whereas Morey is rather desperate. I don't like our chances of moving anybody. Is it of relevance that Garcia is not mentioned?

Garcia is a team option we can't move him.

The fates of these guys are of such little consequence that I don't think there's enough there to warrant desperation.

Basically we've already told them that we're not picking up their options. That means we can just let them sit on our roster until the 1st or we can try to get some picks out of them... maybe there are some teams out there who would want to pick up their options instead of trying to court them as free agents.

Garcia is not mentioned because we probably hope that we can sign him for much cheaper after all our other free agent business is taken care of. He was huge for us in the playoffs and during his exit interview he said he really wanted to come back to Houston.

he's trying to get blood from a stone, that's all.

Nah, it's not too obvious, it's really just a case of does some team want these guys at a discount rate/1 yr deal.

Hmm... i never considered trying to trade AB or Delfino. probably bc idk what the market would be, does anyone know? i mean isnt delfino injured and might miss the begining of the season?

also i dont see the advantage of trading them for other non-guaranteed contract is.

i could see maybe packaging AB with T-rob to get that first round draft pick and doing the whole euro stash thing tho

He's doing his due diligence...seeing if anyone will give a bit of treasure for his trash.

Lets not look too much into it.

Just Morey being Morey. Trying to get some kind of value for players he knows he's about to cut.

Why can't we offer Max to Dwight now. Isn't the owner ready to go over the cap if it means for a contending team?
