That sentence is formulated in such a way to convey the meaning that he has lost the general respect of a particular group.

Again, this is clear if you just replace the word 'players' with some other one one.

    "He lost Americans' respect"

    "He lost employees' respect"

    "He lost students' respect"

Quotation marks are used to denote the beginning and end of a quoted passage. The point people are making is that the sentence you purported to quote simply does not exist in the article (and thus, that the title of this regurgitated thread is misleading -- presumably, in order to advance your personal agenda). But I'm sure you understand that.

Ah... there is this thing called rephrasing? and it's quite clear that the statement refers to the fact that Howard has lost the general respect from his peers?

It isn't worth arguing over. You purposely created a misleading title -- just own it, instead of pretending not to understand the reaction from everyone else who has posted in this thread. That's all.

You're reading your own thoughts into the words implicitly. The article could have explicitly stated "all players", "the players'" or at a minimum "most players'' - it didn't.

If this were a trial against Howard, and that sentence was evidence, all that anyone can conclusively gather is that some unknown players don't have respect for Howard. This is just an ESPN hype piece, anyway.

Why are you accusing other people of not knowing English? This is a psychology problem, not a language one.

"He has lost the players' respect" ---> I don't see how this can be interpreted other than losing the general respect of his peers? Again, just replace 'players' with some other word, and the meaning becomes obvious.

Rephrasing someone else's utterance is different from misquoting, since the former maintains, not distort, the central point of the original quote.

The real thing that happened: Calvin got his BSPN marching orders to write pulp junk bashing the Rockets hours before Game 5. Wake up folks.

Make me understand IF all players have lost respect for Howard, why then play him lots of minutes? I would be doing the opposite and giving most of the minutes to Capela and Howard would get fewer minutes.

stop evading my question and answer how the sentence 'He lost students' respect' can be interpreted other than losing the general respect of students.

Alright I'll play your stupid game. How does 'general respect' = NOBODY respects?

because losing general respect is essentially tantamount to getting no respect from his peers. obviously, no one know what players think deep down in their mind, but if you get called out for losing the general respect from other players, that is equivalent as saying at least on a superficial level, no one respects you.

Ignore list activated. That's 2 clickhole-esque thread starts bashing Howard in only a few days. And this one was a 3rd rehash of an already twice posted article. My money is on Laker troll.
