Well the Lakers desperately need Hibbert's D inside. They would want him to come. Pause. But the trade make sense. Lets see of Hibbert can keep up the pace with Clarkson Randle and Russell.
Any cliff's notes on why Indiana wants to get rid of him as if he were the plague? I know he's been a disappointment but isn't he serviceable? I don't see why Indiana would get better by just dumping him.

Why would they trade him? He's young, cheap, and one of the few bright spots on their team. There is absolutely no incentive to trade him.
They drafted a young C to replace Hibbs, who's salary is quite huge, they probably don't want to pay all that money, given that their team isn't contending. They even tried to talk him in to opt out (yah good luck with that lol ). They've been trying to trade him forever, but there was 0 market, only now that teams missed out on everything like Lakers or lost their starting C like Clipps he got at least SOME value, it's a great deal for both sides. Don't sleep on Lakers, they still gonna add, Hibbs is a legit C, they got loads of youth and some good vets now, they deffo won't make playoffs but at least their team won't be pathetic like last year. They need to start winning in order to lure FA's next year and if they win some games, at least they won't give very high pick to 76ers and look better.
Hibbert is still considered one of the best box out men in the league. I don't think he's a guy other centers like going up against.
LoL. Hibbert is a freaking space cadet. Kobe is going to give him a mental breakdown by the end of training camp.
Larry Bird got burnt out. There's a lot that we didn't see that went behind closed doors. There was a kind-of-public kind-of-clash between Roy and Bird last season, the team was struggling, in large part because of Lance Stephenson who just sopped moving the ball. Hibbert called out his selfish teammates, without saying names. Larry Bird was very upset about it. Then Lance leaves, Bird was upset about it too, Bird invested a lot of personal effort into Lance over the years. Then there's supposedly more friction and stories that Bird doesn't want Hibbert anymore, plus stories that David West is upset by how Roy is being handled by management. And then we get to current situation, West opts out of 13 mil to take vet minimum with Spurs / Cavs / Wizards, it looks like. Hibbert is traded away for nothing. You are right, Hibbert is serviceable, he's a starting quality center. If Morey was handling this situation, he'd probably keep him or at least get a pick in return. Compared to how Morey handled the Asik situation, where Asik wanted to be traded, and Morey managed to keep it all relatively cool and get a pick out of it, this Hibbert situation is a disgrace, a case of mismanagement.
Myles Turner blew up yesterday. Turner should not have fallen to 11th. The Pacers are getting very fortunate here.

Well, hopefully it's at least a legit 2nd round pick, not one of those top 59 protected. I wish we had someone like Masai Ujiri handling this whole situation, though.
Great trade for the Lakers, they weren't gonna do anything with that money anyway, might as well take a chance on Hibbert. Ridiculous mismanagment on the Pacers side, sure you didn't want the guy around but with his rep as a defensive force you really couldn't find any takers? Really? With teams like the Clipps and the Lakers looking for a C you ended up giving away a pick to get rid of him? As another poster has said, Morey, Masaj Uri or other "new school" GMs wouldn't have made this mistake. When you treat your players like assets, you don't make these kinds of mistakes
