Another point is the shot distribution. The % of shots from certain areas on the floor are similiar to the numbers he had last season. It debunks the myth that the coaches are forcing him to only attempt threes.
ESPN STRATEGERY 1) Write obvious blurb about Lin. 2) Make a title that has negative conotations. 3) Put it behind paywall and post link on front page. 4) Bathe in ensuing profits from LOF's dieing to go in and defend him like Scrooge McDuck. You can replace Lin with Cowboys, Tebow, Lebron, etc. It's a winning formula.
I'm sure someone pointed this out already but the shooting %s here are a bit misleading when it's such a small sample size. Lin has taken: 24 shots in the 10-15 range (20%) 64 shots in the 16-3pt line range (42%) If anything, he should stop taking 3pters, take a step inside and take those long 2s. Working his mid-range game would be beneficial IMO. Finishing at the rim at 61% and shooting 42% from long 2 is much better than the 129 shots he's taken beyond the arc at 30%. I heard he tweaked his mechanics to shoot flatter. That was obviously a fail. Now he forgets how to shoot from muscle memory. Also McHale should authorize him taking mid range jumper. His 3 pointer wasn't all that great last year. It was the mid range jumpers. Having him shooting spot up 3 is not going to help his confidence.
His shot doesn't look flat at all. He shoots this strange big-ass rainbow most of the time. Also, he should keep practicing and firing that 3ball. If Kyle Lowry could figure it in between sessions of CoD Black Ops, the Jeremy Lin can do it.
Lin's shooting was hot last month, a little over 2 weeks. Linsanity was two weeks. Brent Barry on the Spurs was avg 50% from 3P at certain stages of the season in different years but never ended a season with anything close to those numbers. Possibily this is who Lin is. A streak shooter who can get hot once or twice a season.
step-on-the-line-long-2-itis? Yea, he's got a bad case of that for sure, especially when he's spotting up.
I saw Lin take a 2pt jump shot and make it last game. And I saw some rusty post games and 2pt jump shots from 2Pat last game. I think the coaches begin to admit the flaws in their system and allow some in-between shots.
Are coaches verbally denying anyone to take 2pt shots, or does our predictable spread offense not allow for many open 1on1 2pt shots? What makes more sense? They know we can't make 3's so they pack it up inside the arch and collapse on the ball handler when he breaches it. Plus, both Lin and Harden are not inclined to stop and pop, it's just not their mentality.
this team is growing just in confidence of a successful season under their belt. lin is the kind of guy who will keep working on his game. his jumper could be LETHAL in this offense. with our pg depth i'm not as concerned tho
