It's too bad Nash agreed to go to the Lakers instead of NY. Now NY has bigger incentives to match our offer to Lin, they're the NY Knicks. Now without Walsh at the helm I'm pretty sure they're bound to overspend and stay in cap hell to try to win the title just because the owner loves to spend money. They've definitely gone over the cap before and now we're only going to have issues with our players again. Geez no one wants to deal with us trade wise..
Well now that NY is not getting Nash I doubt we get Lin... but at least we can get revenge for them screwing over the lottery pick we should've had
Well, if anything, it seems like Morey's taking an "if I go down, I'm taking you with me" approach this offseason, given how badly things have gone for us since draft day. Either we get a media sensation, or the Knicks overpay. I like it.
I think I figured out Morey's strategy here to get Lin. He's gonna sign the offer sheet (if Dragic doesn't come around before then), and then Morey's gonna call up the Knicks and offer them Lowry for Balkman, Douglas, Harrelson, and a re-signed Novak and a future first rounder. He's also going to volunteer to send them guys like Leur and Smith who are on minimum or no guarantee deals. Ongoing negotiations with agreement made to consumate the deal the same day the 3-day right to match ends.
The Morey way pry away players other teams need by back loading deals so a team like CHI or NYK have to pay huge against the cap He makes more and more friends everyday I bet!
Chances are morey will muck this up again and rockets will be left empty handed again as jeremy lin will resign with the knicks because of the underpaid below the market offer morey has given him
Also if the Knicks match they don't get the luxury of the salary cap hit being an average of the salary per year as the Rockets do. I believe if they match they will take a salary cap hit of the exact value of each year of the contract.
I would of actually believed this til The Bobcats reportedly have an offer sheet prepared for Goran & Nash is getting traded to LA.
That doesn't sound like a huge return for Lowry? Also would only happen if the dwight deal is completely dead? Finally, since we're probably losing Dragic (feigen just reported that he has offers in excess of the rocket offer) and NY will surely match (now that they lost Nash), how funny would it be if Phienix got Dragic back, we traded Lowry and then signed Brooks back (since Phoenix wot want him?
Yeah, we're tripping back down the stairs of failure right smack into the pool of mediocrity at this point.
@WojYahooNBA: Houston has made an offer to New York's Jeremy Lin and he's considering, league source tells Y! Sports. Right on cue
@WojYahooNBA: Lin's a restricted free agent, and Knicks are poised to match an offer sheet. Rockets extended an offer tonight and Lin's thinking it over.
