It took you 43 seconds to post that news. I wonder what the record is. I bet Knicks do well next year, they have some decent pieces and the east is still weak. But it wont be because of Thomas.

According to the AP report, the Knicks fired Larry Brown because he wouldn't agree to a buyout. So does this mean he gets paid the entire remainder of his contract?

I wish I am as lucky as Brown.

Pistons paid him 5 million to leave and now he got another 40 million from Knicks. It is crazy, it is absolutely crazy. James Dolan is an idiot.

If he was fired does that mean he can't coach anywhere else until his contract with NY expires?

The Pistons ought to bring him back. If we was coaching that team they probably would have won the title.

    HEY!

I am in NYC! I think Larry is the coach for the Rockets! Lets get him! GOGOGO!

We need some attention around here. Nobody knows about the Rockets. With Larry, all the girls around here who complain about JVG can enjoy some drama! Like...a soap opera!

What a joke this guy is. Knicks aren't much better.

This is just pathetic stuff. I am a Knicks fan and yet again it gets even worse. I cant imagine how it gets any worse than this, however, so I guess that's a good thing.

Larry Brown made $50 million for 23 wins last year, or, $2,173,913.04 per win.

    Pathetic.

The Knicks are some sort of punch-line come to life.

First the Francis trade, now firing Brown and hiring Thomas as coach. Hilarious, but a pro team shouldn't be run for laughs.

OMG! I never, ever, not in a million years did I see this coming!

In fairness, Isiah is probably a better coach than he is a GM. Of course, Larry Brown is still probably a better coach than Isiah is, and he couldn't do anything with that team.

Roswell, I think you're right. Brown would have to get permission from the Knicks to coach another NBA team. If he wouldn't agree to a buyout, they probably won't be keen on letting him coach elsewhere, and certainly not without compensation. Does this mean Brown is retiring?

I'm so glad i'm not a knicks fan. I wouldn't be able to go through the mess isiah has put this team through. you have 3 max contracts(francis, marbury, rose) and the almost max contract of curry. Then you have malik rose, MoT,Crawford. I'm just gonna stop, b/c that team is just plain pathetic.

And i don't want brown to coach here. IMO i think he is overrated.

I don't think so. But Brown just made $40M in one season of work!!!

Dolan has to be one of the dumbest, if not the dumbest, owners in sports. What other team has consistently had the highest payroll in their league (by far), the 2nd worst record in the league w/ no lottery pick to show for it? AND the Bulls have the option of switching their picks next summer. Now Dolan owes Larry Brown $40M straight out of his own pocket.
