Vandermock 2.0 http://www.houstontexans.com/news/article-2/VanderMock-20/7cf407ea-5619-4db5-8142-e4bd4d29818f
There is a chance the #1 receiver Laquan Treadwell is on the board when the Texans pick. Texans need a receiver, but they don't appear to be looking at a player like Treadwell whose strengths & weaknesses overlap with Hopkins. However, at least one of the two teams drafting immediately after the Texans (would gobble him up as fast as they could. According to the generic trade value chart, pick #22 is worth 780 points. The team who's second and third round picks happen to add up to 780 points is the San Francisco 49'ers (#37 = 530 points, #68 = 250 points). The 49'ers also happen to have the most picks in the draft (12 total - 1 each in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 2 in the 4th, 3 in the 5th, and 4 in the 6th). Among other things, the most pressing offensive need for the 49'ers and offensive coach Chip Kelly is a wide receiver, especially if Anquan Boldin isn't back (and one of the common comps for Treadwell just happens to be Boldin). Without Boldin they have a bunch of speedy complementary guys, but no big, physical go-to guy. Treadwell may not fit the Texans, but he sure looks like maybe the only big physical go-to #1 receiver in the draft. Bold Prediction: Texans trade out of #22 for #37 & #68 and maybe something to sweeten it like a 6th rounder. 49'ers move up to take Treadwell at #22, pissing off the Vikings and Bengals fans. Texans drop back and take their pick of whichever of the three speed guys (Coleman, Fuller, or Miller) is left at #37 and get an extra pick in the 3rd for whomever. Of course, it probably is too neatly aligned to actually happen, but one can dream.

Not one pick addresses the O-Line and the D-Line doesn't get any love until the 6th round. Not likely IMO.
The fact that BoB is publicly showing interest in WRs and all these mocks have us taking one early, I'm almost certain it won't be a WR. I'll go ahead and make my call that the Texans will take a DT at #22.
I will be surprise if the Texans do not take a OL and a DL with their first two picks. 1. OL 2. DE/DT 3. ILB 4. WR/TE DL talent runs deeps in this draft, so I could see the Texans waiting until the third round to go DL. This is the year that the Texans should draft replacements for Cushing, Wilfork, and Brown.
I like Coleman better than Fuller but can't really compare Treadwell to either one of them. Treadwell isn't going to run by anyone but at 6'2" 220, he is bigger WR who excels at going and getting a ball. Seen comparisons to Hopkins. Coleman has that home run ability and can help in the kicking game right away. But he also one of the worst drop rates in the country last season and 90% of his catches and yards came on 4 routes. If we are looking for a speedy WR to play opposite of Hopkins, I'd rather go with Shepherd.
I'd take Treadwell... Not entirely comparable, because they had Montana, but the 49ers didn't struggle with Rice and (John) Taylor much, and neither were burners. Long receivers that run their routes to create separation will not hold up the offense. I don't care if the safety cheats over the top or not, because of the 2's decoy speed. It would be ludicrous to take Coleman, Miller, Doctson over Treadwell. Now, if Treadwell's availability at 1.22 leads to a trade-down, that's its own return analysis. I like the other guys; I like Coleman a lot, but if Treadwell is at 1.22 you run to the podium and take him 1,000 times out of 1,000. Two young Hopkins on the Texans, a new Rice and Taylor - where do I sign before it changes?
A lot could depend on if Crick is locked up before draft day. If he's not coming back that probably puts DL as the top priority over upgrading Strong or adding Brown's future replacement. So you really can't say yet. I always like the idea of adding 2nd and 3rd round picks. You can get solid starters, build depth and insure against injuries and have strong special teams.
I don't know if he's "better", but in my opinion, a better compliment to Hopkins than those other two.
No, yo Jacoby Briskett...Rick Smith drafting in the 3, 4, & 5th res has been abysmal. Hopefully he hits it BIG in this year's draft!
