I agree but what we give them can be pretty much signed to long term deals as well. With more floor time. I thought they were holding off on trading Bosh for a sign n trade this offseason. I agree with ROXTXIA, BSPN of course would love for the "mighty Lakers" to get mightier, more story to write about. Wow, would that be the closest you could get to an all star team as possible; Kobe, Gasol, Artest, Odom, and Bosh. They're not all all stars but that would be too much talent for one team.
Ok, everyone knows that's true, but come on. Be realistic here. If the Lakers got Bosh, you're talking about a starting line-up that would be unparalleled in this league. The only other team that had that kind of star power was the Bulls in 96, and we KNOW how well they did. This would be horrible news for the entire NBA, but especially the Western Conference. The only saving grace would be if Bosh chooses not to re-sign with the Lakers this off-season.
well for all of you blasting why the Raptors will take Bynum just look at it this way.. they dont trade Bosh he walks they get nothing... Now lets look at the two big trade rumors.. Rockets - Who on the Rockets do the Raptors really want that they can build their team around? Maybe Brooks? Salaries of course dont match so we would need to throw in some other pieces Battier? Scola? Landry? None of them really make sense for them. Rockets dream trade would be to dump Tmac on them. But what does that give them? A old aging star who will walk in the end of the season also. Lakers - Look at what the Rockets can offer vs the Lakers. With Bynum + throw in (Brown?) They get a young 22 yo center who has pretty good skills. He was averaging 20/10 before Pau came back and can do that on a team who needs him to score. Plus he is just 22!!! Yes he had some injuries early on but two of those were almost freak accidents with someone rolling into his knee. It's a no brainer for the Raptors if they lakers offer bynum. Rockets have no chance on getting Bosh if that is the case. Or Morey really is some crazy genius and pulls it off some how. . I can only dream and hope
a package of landry, budinger, mcgrady and a 2011 first round pick for Hedo and Bosh should outduel a bynum package. toronto sheds major salary and gets great young talent. hell a package of mcgrady, landry and brooks for bosh and calderon should also trump the bynum package.
Because there are two 'rumors' tossed out there is no other interest in Bosh? Dallas would toss a bundle into a Bosh deal; Clips, too. Who wouldn't? Bynum is a nice player, but the wrong fit for Oh, this Canadian team and city. Rox could actually put together a doable deal around guys like Scola and Shane, both of whom make sense for Raps. Mavs could probably top any deal by Rox. If NOLA offers West and CP3 might Raps say 'ta-ta' to CB and JC? There's lots and lots of maybes and unknowns, and dominos need to start falling before other deals crystallize. But, when - at the 11:30th hour? Or this weel?
He sold his deal to the Mothership, and won a job for his troubles. And has proved next to worthless. But, still better than Sammy Smith.
The Lakers had 4 all-stars in 1998 - Kobe, Shaq, Eddie Jones, & Van Exel. Somehow the Lakers always get rosters like this.
No Bynum is how good as he is BECAUSE he is the 3rd/4th wheel. When he is constantly getting double teams you think he is gonna put up big numbers? You think if he gets guarded like Yao does he will put up better numbers than Yao? I think Bynum is one of the most overrated players in the league. If you have Kobe on your team you are going to look good (AKA Ariza)
Bynum is a BYC player, so the Lakers would have to deal more then just Bynum and Brown. They would have to add an expiring deal like Morrison or Fisher to make it work. Brown also has to approve the trade. Rockets could offer a good package. If they want to get really bold, we could take on multiple bad/expensive contracts from them, including Turkoglu, Calderon, and Banks which would give them significant cap space, as well as offer some combination of Lowry, Brooks, Scola, and Landry.
I just read on the hollinger chat about a trade it was a rumor about JR smith for battier but hollinger said ariza for jr works better and the contracts match
A Battier/Smith deal works in their trade machine. Of course the Nuggets would have to pay more in luxury tax if that deal happened. I'd do either, and would prefer to move Ariza, but I doubt that happens.
Sigh, why can't people do just an ounce of research before spewing crap that they heard somewhere and think it would be cool to repeat it. For starters, let me quote you a brief description of what his podcasts are about: Bill Simmons is a Celtics fan which means he HATES the Lakers. He said in his podcast that it would make him sick if it happened but he thinks its a good trade for both teams. He has a point. The Raptors are going to lose Bosh anyways. Why would you not trade him for a 22 year old 7 ft Center with the potential to be a superstar?
It's a NO-BRAINER... Detroit Gets: Brooks, McGrady, Tyrus Thomas Chicago Gets: Kwame Brown (Expiring), Trevor Ariza (possible running mate to lure Lebron James) Houston Gets: Hinrich Richard Hamilton Prince http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine Houston NEEDS, yes NEEDS a player who can score off of cuts. Richard Hamilton would thrive in Adelman's offense. And for crying out loud, look at what you get from the defensive side of it. Hinrich, Prince, and Battier have all made ALL DEFENSE at least once. You match that up with The Chuckwagon and then when Yao gets back. BEST DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE. Now, if Morey had only signed Keith Bogans for the LEAGUE MINIMUM instead of letting him goto San Antonio on START... Told you so.
